(Michelle POV)
Me and Harley have now been dating a year. It feels like its been a million years. In a good way I mean. Harley's a sweetheart, and a great boyfriend. Wow, what girly, lovey dovey thoughts those were. Oh well. That happens a lot when I think about Harley. I get all teenage-girl mushy. Anyway, Harley said he had a big surprise for me today. I'm kind of worried that he planted explosive confetti or something somewhere as a prank. Yes, he has done that to me before. He's a twelve year old at heart sometimes. He called me earlier today and told me to meet him at our "spot". Which is this big bush in the park that has a hollow spot on the inside. Nobody knows it exists but me and Harley. It's where we go to hang out.
And also to get away from Y/N begging us to go on a double date with her and Peter. I love them both, really I do, but they are just, too married-couple-y you know? All cuddly and kissy and "I love you" and "I love you" and just, no. It's not like that with me and Harley. We've said I love you's before, but we don't have to say it everyday to know that it's true. I'm not much of a words person anyway. Harley says my actions speak louder then words. And I'm glad of that because I am not going to be good at giving him heartfelt speeches every day. And he doesn't smother me by saying it all the time either. I know he's saying it by kissing my cheek, or smiling at me from across the room. That's the great thing about it, we can say it without saying it.
I love that he accepts the way that I am. And actually loves me for it. That makes me happy. I'm walking through the park now, heading to the spot. Harley's waiting for me when I get there, with some pizza, two bottles of cola, and potato chips. Hm, yes. He knows me well. "Hey!" He says excitedly when he spots me coming into the big leafy fort. He's sitting crisscross, and when I crawl inside he pulls me onto his lap. He smiles and kisses me. I pull away and smile. "How'd you know I was wanting pizza?" I ask. He grins "You told me this morning." I laugh at that. He has a sleeping bag thing set up for us to lay on and relax. We talk and eat the pizza while cuddling on the sleeping bag. It started to get a little dark out, and Harley started to pull me out of the spot. "Where are we going?" I ask. "Just outside." He says.
I let him lead me out, and he takes me to a big tree, and we stand under it. There's lightning bugs out, and it looks really cool. "Why are we out here?" I ask. He sits crisscross in the grass, and I sit crisscross in front of him, our knees touching. He grabs my hands and holds them, running his thumbs over my knuckles. "I wanted to ask you something." He says seriously. I furrow my eye brows in slight confusion. "Okay." I say. He keeps brushing his thumbs over the backs of my hands, stalling of course. "Harley, spit it out." I say with a little laugh. He flashes a smile. "I love you Michelle." He says. I lean my forehead against his, and take a shaky breath. "I love you too." I say. He still plays with my hands.
"How come it's hard for you to say that?" He asks. I touch our noses together. "Well, i-it's not that it's necessarily...hard. It's just... I'm not used to saying what I feel, you know?" I try to explain. He nods. "I get it. But you can tell me what you feel, you know that right? I'll listen. I won't even have to say anything after. But it's good to let it out sometimes." He says. He's so amazing. I want to say something, but I hesitate. I guess he notices. "What is it?" He asks. I close my eyes. "Y-you make me happy. And- and I'm glad you mostly understand how I feel, even when I don't tell you. And I'm s-sorry I don't say it a lot, but I do love you. I love you a lot. And I hope you know that." I say. He turns his head to maneuver around our noses and smashes his lips to mine. We kiss like that for a while, then he pulls away.
"I know. And I love you too. But I want you to know you can tell me things. I'm available anytime." He laughs. I smile. He pecks my lips, then pulls away. "Okay so, I have a really important question for you, and a present the comes with it, but I need you to close your eyes okay?" He says. I hesitate. "Is it a prank?" I say uneasily. He laughs and pecks my lips again. "No. Not this time." He says. I nod and close my eyes. I hear him move a little bit. And then he stills. "Okay, open." He says. I open my eyes, and in front of me Harley is holding a red velvet little box, with a diamond ring inside. My eyes widen, and I look up at him. He looks me in the eyes. Then he clears his throat and takes a deep breath.
"Michelle, I love you a lot. A whole lot. So much it hurts. So that's why I wanted to ask, will- will you marry me?" He says, looking away a little bashfully. I blink. Then I look at him. I'm trying to comprehend this. Me? I want to say. You want to marry me? I feel tears start to fill my eyes. I'm not entirely sure why. I never cry. But I just feel a tight, panicky feeling in my chest, I start breathing shaky and heavily, and big tears fall from my eyes. "Hey, hey, don't cry honey. What's wrong?" Harley says. He looks worried. I want to laugh because he called me honey, but it comes out as a sob instead. Harley scoops me up into his lap and I burry my head in his neck, crying like a baby.
