I peeked around the corner as I eavesdropped on my mother and fathers conversation with Thror, the king of Erebor.
"The Ellendalla Talc will do nothing but possess your mind! Look at you Thror! Your passion for riches has become ridiculous!" My father, King Cadomarin, exclaimed to Thror.
"Cadomarin, if you do not share this element with me, I will have to bring war upon you! The Ellendalla Talc should belong to me and only me!" Thror shouted.
"If you or your kin step foot into Braylain once again or bring war upon it, you will be sorry." My mother, Queen Broendra, calmly stated to Thror.
"You have no idea what kind of power the Ellendalla Talc possesses Thror, so I suggest you return to Erebor and never come back." My father said.
"You choose death? So be it. You let your stubbornness get in the way of you Cadomarin. You will regret not giving me the Talc." Thror replied, staring daggers into my father's eyes.
My father showed no emotion at all.
"Guards, escort him out please." My father ordered. Once Thror left the room I stepped out behind my hiding spot and asked, "Are we going to die?"
My mother and father turned around with shocked expressions on there faces.
They never did acknowledge my presence during the argument.
"How long have you been listening?" My father questioned. I shrugged and looked at the ground.
"I guess I walked in during the midst of it all."
My father chuckled, "Brendalle, you know it isn't right to eavesdrop. We all know Thror was just talking nonsense."
"As usual." My mother added in while rolling her eyes.
"You are safe here. Me and your mother will not let harm come your way. Do you understand?"
I looked up at them.
"What if he does bring war upon us? Then what? Will we just sit here and watch out homeland be desolated by dwarves?"
My mother glanced at my father with a concerned look because she knows I have a point.
"Father, you know Braylain has to take precautions and be armed just in case King Thror decides to do something stupid and unnecessary. Sound the alarms!" I pleaded.
My father smiled a little, letting me know that he'll go through with my plan.
"Guards! Sound the alarms. Make sure the children and women get to safety. We need men up and ready to fight!" My father demanded.
"Aye sir!" The guards replied. Then they took off to sound the alarms.
"And what of the Ellendalla Talc? What shall we do with it?" My mother questioned.
My father walked over to an urn where they kept the Talc hidden. He removed the lid and took out a rock that glowed blue in particular spots.
'So this is what the Ellendalla Talc looks like?' I wondered.
I have never seen it before, but I've heard my father and mother speak of it every now and then.
My father walked over and placed the Talc in my mothers hands.
"Get out of Braylain. Take and bury the Talc far, far away from this kingdom. Keep it hidden." My father said.
My father looked at me from behind my mother and said, "Brendalle, you go with your mother."
I shook my head.
"I'm staying here to help you, I can fig--," I said before I was cut off by a dwarvish horn being blown.
My father's eyes widened as he realized that Thror was being serious.
He turned to us and said, "Get out of Braylain. Now. I love you two with all of my heart. And I promise I will find you."
He kissed both of our heads and dashed through the doors off into battle.
"But father, what about you?! You just can't expect us to leave you here!" I exclaimed full of rage expecting him to hear me, but he didn't.
"Come Brendalle! We have to leave. Your father knows what he's doing." My mother stated.
She grabbed my hand and led me through the doors.
"There she is! Queen Broendra! Get her and take the Talc away from her!" I heard a voice say.
I turned around and saw it was Thror with a couple of his dwarvish guards. They charged towards as I filled with rage.
I grabbed my mothers hand and led her out the gates of the castle.
As daylight blinded my eyes, I saw a horrific image. I was watching my homeland be destroyed by dwarves.
Arrows were being shot.
Swords were being clanged together.
Lives were being lost.
"Run!" My mother ordered. We ran through the crowds of people that screaming and crying.
"Get the Talc!" I heard one of Thror's guards say behind us.
I could tell my mother was tired due to the huge gasps of air she was taking, but I encouraged her on.
Just as we were about to reach the front gates, dwarvish guards stepped in front of us and nocked arrows upon us. We turned around immediately and saw Thror and his guards. We knew there was no escape from this.
"Give me the Ellendalla Talc Broendra and no blood will be spilled." Thror demanded.
I stepped up and yelled, "The Ellendalla Talc belongs to the kingdom of Braylain! And you say no blood will be spilled?! Look around! Look at what your obsession has done! Innocent lives are being lost! Citizens of Erebor and Braylain don't even know what they're fighting for! And you call yourself a King?! You are pathetic!"
Thror smirked at me. "Kill both of them. Take the Talc." He ordered.
"You will have to kill me first because I'm not going to let any of you put your filthy hands on my mother!" I exclaimed in all seriousness.
Thror laughed at me. "You are a brave little 6 year old. But I'm afraid nothing will help you here darling." He replied.
"Kill them." He said for the second time.
Just as their arrows were about to be fired, we heard another horn in the air.
Mirkwood.
I also heard two arrows being fired. One straight in my mothers heart and one in my stomach. Then all I saw was darkness.
