Chapter three

Nico's pov

I reluctantly followed Will towards the dining pavilion. Most of the campers had already left and we're heading to the campfire. A few still lingered and I caught a couple stealing glances at will and I. Some campers devoured the rest of their meals, then fled the pavilion.

"Maybe we should have just eaten in the infirmary" I sighed.

"What? Why! It's perfectly fine out here"

"Don't you see? They're all scared of me."

"They're not scared, they might just be a little intimidated by you. I mean you're a hero, Nico. They probably wish they were able to do what you have done. They don't even have the guts and courage to withstand what you've withstood"

I blushed at how highly Will thought of me. But he was wrong. I'm just a freak, son of the death God. I don't know why he's wasting his time getting close to me. No one has really tried before. I focused my gaze on the ground.

"Come on Death Boy. What do you want?" Will questioned, pointing towards the food. I walked over and picked up two plates. I handed one to Will and he thanked me. Walking along the food I picked up a hamburger and a couple of fries. I scraped the fries into the fire as an offering to my father. I'm not exactly sure what I'm praying for. Acceptance. Wouldn't it be easier just to leave again? Forget these camps. Maybe live at a macdonalds. That'd be nice. Or I could live with hades, although that's not on the top of my list. The picnic tables were practically empty so Will and I sat together.

Will say across from me with a burger, a hot dog, a slice of pizza and a salad.

"Hungry?" I asked laughing a little at the amount of food. I had no idea how he was planning on eating all of that.

"What! Healing takes a lot of work." Will stated, crossing his arms for effect.

"Ok, Sunshine" I smirked. Since when do I smirk! I took a bite of my burger. Gods this is terrible. Can they even call this meat? I scowled at my "burger" and began picking at the bun. Ah, a scowl feels much more natural.

"Come on Death Boy, you've got to have more than a bun" he frowned. Awe I like his smile better.

"Here" he pushed his salad towards me. "Doctors orders"

I bit of a smile grew on my face and I lightly chuckled at the ridiculousness of 'doctors orders'

"Don't call me Death Boy" I said, regaining my scowl.

"Awe come on, I saw that smile right there. You like it." The son of Apollo wiggled his eyebrows at me. ((Idk about out you guys but I find guys and wiggling eyebrows very attractive. Luke hemmings. Am I right?))

"What ever Sunshine" I glared at him. His smile just grew wider practically blinding me. Does this guy ever get intimidated? We both turned back to our meals and continued to eat in comfortable silence.

Will's pov

After finishing dinner Nico and I started heading back to the infirmary. Everyone would be at the campfire for at least another half an hour. As we walked I looked over at Nico. The son of Hades is 14 , a year younger than me, and is a few inches shorter than I am. He has that hot, messy hair going on. I realized how fit he is, strong, toned arms and shoulders. Quite a nice bu-

"Will?" Nico asked turning around. Apparently I had stopped walking.

"Y-ya? Coming sorry just.. There was a tree. And it was um in my way." I stammered. Nico squinted at me, we were in the middle of a clear path the the infirmary.

"I mean! You know metaphorically? Like it was in my mind. The tree and it was blocking my thoughts and made me stop walking. Ya..." I tried to cover. Nico didn't seem to buy it.

"You're worse than your father at making stuff up." He smiled at me.

I felt my cheeks burn and desperately wished for them to cool down. I was thankful for the darkness so Nico couldn't see. Walking that last steps up the path to the infirmary, Nico and I headed in.
