RGB found himself suddenly hooked to the tree, hanging on by just a foot, and looking down at the stark drop below. Mabel was laughing her head off and high fives Dipper, who had joined in the laughter. RGB's cane was hooked on a hole in the tree beside them.

"Think that's funny do you?" The Telly head said before swinging a leg over the branch and starting to awkwardly pull himself up. Right as he was solidly on the branch Mabel poked his head.

"TAG!" The duo grinned at each other before jumping down the tree and dodging between branches with an angry RGB after them.

"This isn't a place for games!" He snapped, slowly clambering down after the twins. They ran all around the branches in escape from him, dodging and jumping away from their guide with ease.

"You suck at tag RGB!" Mabel taunted and looked down at the monster from a branch her and Dipper were currently occupying.

"Why you...! You- Hoodlums!" He shook his fist up at them. "I'm not playing your silly little game!" Dipper blew a raspberry at him which was mirrored by Assok who had joined them on the perch.

RGB fumes and stomped his foot,"Get down here this instant!"

Mabel had a glint in her eyes and she quickly dug through her pack, earning a questioning oink from Waddles as she took off the pack with her grappling hook in hand. "I'm never getting down!" She yelled and shot her grappling, it found purchase across on another branch and she jumped.

RGB and Dipper watched her sail through the air before suddenly the rope snapped and she let out a scream. The two dove to the edge and barely missed her as a branch was soon protruding through her shirt. RGB frowned and Dipper was quickly trying to make his way down to his sister when she moved and started looking around. "Hey...if I'm dead where's all the smile dip?"

Dipper let out a shaky laugh as he realized his sister was alive. He quickly scrubbed tears from the corner of his eyes as RGB stretched down and grabbed the girl. "What are you twins made of?" He sighed.

"Mysteries!" Mabel laughed and RGB almost dropped her because of it.

"Mabel that was so- so stupid! RGB said the tree was sick and yet you decided to use your grappling hook?!" Dipper yelled once all three of them were on a relatively wide and flatter branch. His sister looked down in shame and picked lightly at her sweater.

"I'm sorry Dipper...I thought it'd be cool. Now my grappling hook is broken..." She frowned and glanced at said object, rope laying limply next to it in a pile.

Dipper squinted and looked closely at her shirt. "Did you tear your shirt? There's like a gash in it." Mabel pulled it out and looked and like Dipper had said it looked as if there was a black gash right in the middle of it.

"It's her schism, one she got from the fears." RGB explained and waved off their concerned looks,"She'll be fine with some sleep."

"You aren't going to make us leave the tree are you?" Dipper asked.

"Well yes. Why on Earth would you ever want to sleep in one?"

"Well...we're already up here," Dipper shrugged,"it's like a big sleepover or something." Mabel let out a 'whoop' at sleepover.

RGB sighed and gave in. "Fine, but just this once! And just this tree!" He moved to lean against one of the twisting branches. Dipper and Mabel were laying side by side with Dipper scribbling in his notebook.

"Why only this tree?" He asked, pen at the ready. He was looking eagerly at the monster.

RGB looked to him and then to Assok who seemed to be making its home on Waddles' back as the pig curled up by Mabel. "It doesn't dream." He said simply. "At least, not anymore." When the boy didn't ask anymore follow up questions he shifted and prepared to sleep before spotting the slight shiver between the twins. They suddenly found a jacket thrown at them and gratefully used it as a blanket.

With the two laying beside each other, plus Waddles and Assok, with the jacket as a blanket they closed their eyes for sleep. "Goodnight RGB." "Sweet dreams." The twins wished him.

"Sweet...dreams." He replied after a moment and soon they all drifted to sleep.

And unbeknownst to them the tree had started to change as they slept blissfully unaware.

AN: I'm extremely sorry this has taken so long to update. Honestly there's zero excuses. I just lost motivation to write it and after a recent comment I kicked myself in the rear and started writing it again.
