                Dinner at Luke's.

That's all I could think about as I rode in the car to Luke's house. He picked me up, knowing that it would be less awkward that way.

"My mum's not home yet, so I thought it would be less awkward than us just sitting around in my house." he tells me, trying overly hard to diguise his nerves. I was nervous too. Even though I had met Luke's mother before, I had only talked to her as a tutor for her son, not a friend of her son's. I had no clue how Liz would act, but I could only hope that it'd go well.

We pulled into his driveway and good or of his car. "I guess she's not home yet." Luke said, sounding confused and slightly disappointed.

"Maybe she's just running late. " I suggested as we walk up the front porch.  He nodded,  but didn't seem to hopeful about it. "Dinner is at seven. She's still got twenty minutes. Just give her time. " I told him.

"You're right. She could be almost here and I could be worrying over nothing. " he nodded. We walked inside and walked into his living room. I took a seat on his couch,  adjusting my black and white striped sweater. He sat next to me, wrapping his arm around my shoulders.

It was a normal thing among us at this point. It was just friendly. I had no idea why we were so close,  but it was so easy to be. I felt like I could tell him abuying and that's probably why I told him about my sleeping issue.

"Well now we wait. " he sighed.

2 hours.
Mrs. Hemmings was 2 hours late.

We were still waiting for her. "I should've known she wouldn't come. " Luke groaned, burying his face in his hands. I got up, grabbing his hands,  pulling him up.

"C'mon. " I urge. I pull him into the kitchen and he sits down on the counter. I search through his cabinets and grab a coffee cup. "My mom always said that a drink is the best way to cure emotions. After years of trying,  I believe I've found the perfect thing. " I told him. He raised an eyebrow.

I scowered the freezer coming ion the ice cream. I took a son and smashed as much ice cream down into the cup as I possibly could and then took a spoonful for myself. He chuckled and I smiled. I piled on as much dessert toppings and candy as I could.

"Here you go, Mr. Hemmings. " I said, placing the cup over to him with a spoon. He laughed taking a spoonful and eating it. I hop up next to him.

"Well you really are a genius. " he told me, digging out a spoonful and handing it to me. I took it, eating it.

"Wow. You're right. I'm just amazing. " I teased. He laughed, wrapping his arm around my waist.

"You really are my best friend, Williams. " he whispered to me.

"You're my only friend, Lucas. " I told him. Suddenly our faces were only inches apart. I pulled away.

"Well I better get going. " I say, hopping off the counter.

"No. Could you stay the night?" He begged, looking like he was going to cry.

"I suppose just this once..."
