The two floated through space with a clear view of the sun and planets. Spades remained in place as silence filled the vast space while the arena spun around. Distance from the citadel now made it look like a speck to them. Lucy stood her ground and cracked her knuckles.
"Why aren't you moving? Attack me or I'll go first!" She yelled and flew right at him.
Spades let her get close and held his arms out wide. Striking at him, Lucy's hits went right through his body. A sudden flurry of invisible hits struck Lucy and sent her off the arena. She gasped out and propelled herself back into the arena.
"Enough with your parlor tricks. Fight me like a normal person, don't stand there!"
"What do you mean, fallen angel? I am fighting but your mind cannot comprehend it. My body ascends beyond dimensions, I must see if your new form can keep up with me."
Lucy appeared shocked and looked to the side as she held her blade tight.
That's insane, how will I approach him like this?
Slashing at space, blasts of energy flew at him but they were erased even before hitting him.
It doesn't seem like I can hit him, up-close combat won't work. Projectiles won't either...
Spades lifted his hand up to her and an invisible pillar got launched. Lucy felt it coming and dodged it as she saw it erase part of the arena.
"Great evading skills, most wouldn't have sensed that coming. Now, shall I force you into that form or will you bring it out on your own accord?"
"If I need it, I'll use it but I'm not going to. We've only begun so it looks like you'll have to wait." She replied and noticed a comet fly by them.
Spades didn't react and clasped his hands together while a cluster of energy appeared. It circled around the arena and pierced the floor which set off small explosions. The arena got destroyed and left particles of dust. Both hovered in the void of space and traversed through it with ease.
"Allow me to equalize our battleground until you're ready to fight me at full power. I will wait here." Spades stood in place and watched her stare him down.
Lucy had shielded herself from the explosions and sighed in frustration.
"You're stubborn that's for sure and I still have to find a way to hit you first." She flew toward the nearby comet and concentrated energy in hee legs.
Kicking it with all her might, its route got diverted to where he stayed. Spades looked up and watched it come to him. The comet stopped inches away from his mask then it flew back at her. Lucy focused her energy onto her fists and punched right through it. It got split in two and floated away from her as she shook her fists.
"Face it, Lucy, you can't lay a finger on me. Give in to your dark powers, then and only then can you face me. If you do not, I will force you to submit."
"I guess you'll have to force me into it because I'm not going to let you have your way!" She shouted and slashed at his body from all angles.
It had no effect on him and a counter of invisible punches pushed her away. Lucy bounced back and powered up to strike at his face several times. Spades then grabbed her by the face and punched her in the chest. A few delayed punches followed after and sent Lucy into half of the comet.
"Don't you realize how futile that is? It's quite boring when you can't do much for me, I have to watch you fail time after time." He saw her shatter the comet into fragments.
Lucy aimed her blade at him and felt a sharp pain wash over her. Screaming out in anguish, her muscles constricted and her energy dispersed while her blade disappeared.
