We get to his car and he opens the door for me. I get comfortable and he puts some music playing in an almost inaudible volume.
-Is it too loud? - I shake my head as a no and smile.
I was honestly shocked. I knew Zabdiel had a nice side but I never thought he was like this. We only knew each other for a week and he was already showing me this side of him. Well, he probably wouldn't if I didn't almost faint in front of him. But my point is, I've never felt that anyone cared about me as much as Zabdiel did today.
I feel my eyes closing and I let myself fall asleep knowing that we still had a long ride and Zabdiel didn't mind.
-Angel? - I wake up with shivers down my spine from his voice calling my name and his hand playing with my hair. I yawn and stretch. -We're here. - he smiles and take his hand off my hair.
I look through the window to the beach. I missed this. I used to come to the beach all the time with my mom but lately she has been really busy at work.
I grab my bag, get out of the car, stretch, and feel the wind hitting my body. I look at my side and I see Zabdiel with a towel and a hoodie in his hand.
We both take off our boots and walk in the sand. He put the towel in the sand and we sat silently looking at the sea.-Here. - He hands me the hoodie he had in his hand.
-Im good, thanks. - I smile.
-You have goose bumps. Just take it. - I put his hoodie over my shirt and instantly feel a cozy warmth brought by the thick material of the clothing and Zabdiel's smell in it.
-Why don't you take off your sunglasses?
-We're on the beach Angel.
-You were wearing them at school.
-Are you going to start with the questions?
-Okay then why were you at the cafeteria and not at class?
-Oh my god, I was kicked out of class. Happy? - he was really annoyed but I didn't know why, I was asking regular questions.
-Why?
-Are you serious? - He raised his voice and I stayed silent. I was already getting used to the other side of him.
-Because I didn't want to take my sunglasses off. - he answered knowing that I wouldnt stop thinking about it. It didn't work. I was still thinking about it. He was probably high and that's why he didn't want to take them off. And that's probably why he was being so nice earlier.
We stayed silent for a while and then I decided to open the can of Arizona and hand it to him. He smiled.
-I don't really like Arizona.
-Coke? - I handed him the small bottle of coke already siped by me. - If you're not disgusted by my saliva. Oh and I don't have herpes. - I smile at him trying to get him into his nice mood again.
-Thank you. - he smiled and took a little sip. - Are you feeling better?
-Yeah I'm okay now.
-Good. - he takes another sip and looks to the opposite side I was sitting. I try to look at his eyes seeing if I could understand why he didn't take his glasses off all day. I see a purple spot in the corner of his right eye and widen my eyes.
-Oh God, what happened? - I ask with my eyes still wide open.
-What? - He frowns his eyebrows confused. I quickly take the glasses off his face before he could understand what was going on.
-Give me that shit back. - He growls trying to reach the sunglasses.
-What happened? - I repeat with a soft worried voice. I didn't wanted to scream at him, I just wanted to know how he got that purple eye.
-Give me the fucking glasses. - He growls again. I didn't. - Why did I even thought bringing you here was a good idea? - Ouch. I could see the rage in his eyes.
-Wow. - It was the only word could form. He puts his glasses back on his eyes. I'm not going to lie, that hurted me, I was just trying to be a good friend.
-You can take the glasses off if you want, i already saw it and there's no one here. And honestly, you look pretty badass with that purple eye. - I said holding back my own hurted feelings, trying to make him comfortable and not ashamed or embarrassed. I care about him and I know he wasn't okay.
-I got it in the party I told you not to go to last night. - he says still with the glasses on.
-I still don't understand who throws a party on a Thursday night.
-Peter does.
-Wait, Peter? The Peter?
-Yes. That's why I told you you shouldn't go. I couldn't tell you why in front of the guys.
-Did he do that to you? Because I'll go to his house and cut his balls off with a sewing scissor. - I looked at him seriously. He laughs and keeps looking at the sea. I slowly take off his sunglasses and he doesnt stop me. He just keeps looking at the sea.
-Zab? - He looks at me. It was the first time I called him by the nickname his best friends gave him. - You know it was really difficult for me to tell you what happened in that party right? I felt vulnerable. I didn't told anyone else. You're the only one that knows. But I don't regret it. - I looked into his eyes and felt the kind, caring Zabdiel come back. - I promise your secret is well kept. We don't have to talk about it ever again.
-Peter was telling me and three other guys to be careful with the "girl that hangs out with Christopher" because "she" punched him when he was just trying to get a beer besides "her".
-Only if the beer was taped to my back. - I roll my eyes. -And he just punched you for no reason? - he laughs for two seconds.
-No, I bursted his lip and one of his eyes. This was my outcome. - I look at him absorving the information. He got a purple eye defending me. I didn't know how to react to that.
-You didn't have to punch your friend because of me.
-I already hated him anyways. - He gives me a small smile. - Does my eye really look badass? - he smirks.
-Fuck yeah.
