As the night grew deeper and shorter,
Bottles of liquor scattered on the floor.
Shouts and voices of strangers,
Murmurs and gasps felt tender.Empty streets and flickering streetlights.
Abandoned house and dimming headlights.
Cackle of fire and burning cinders.
Glowing light and growing shadows.A queen sized bed, closed doors,
And open windows,
Moonlight crept its way inside.
Bringing the cold of the night. The warmth of the bed, now felt cold and brutal.
Those sweet whispers of nothing,
Cant be heard and unusual.
The warmth of your embrace, now felt harsh and unfamiliar.
The echoes of your voice,
Muted and peculiar.Winks and hugs were long forgotten.
For you chose to let it go and be forsaken.
The gap grew larger.
The line drawn deeper and clearer. You filled the void within me,
But sucked it whole,
And left it bigger than before.
I now hold the pen,
she holds your heart.
I feel you near,
but distances apart.
