Chloe's P.O.V.
I can hear soft music playing. It must be one of those parties people hold.
Curious and careful on my legs, I make my way towards the noice.

As I near the so called party, I see two people in a pool. I notice some of their clothing are laying near the edge of it. I sneak closer and quickly take it. If I want to go to that party, I have to blend in.
I put on the clothes and walk to the party inside.

As I enter I see a room filled with dancing people. There is some fun lighting hanging from the ceiling, that gives the room a nice glow.
I make my way through the people, while swaying my body to the music.
I soon notice a small brunette sitting on a sofa by herself. She's beautiful. She looks up and we make eye contact. She smiles at me. I keep my eyes locked with hers as I walk toward her. I grab her hand and pull her up.
I continue to sway my body to the music, her doing the same.
Suddenly the music becomes more upbeat and we start dancing more spontaneous together. We end up jumping around, while doing crazy dance moves. She laughs at my silliness.

"Wanna go play ping pong?" She asks me after a while.
"Sure." I say. "What's your name by the way?"
"Beca. What about you?"
"Chloe."
She nods with a smile then grabs my hand.

She leads me though the crowded room to a small porch with a ping pong table. Some guys are playing a game at it. Beca convinces then to let us join, and introduces me to the game. She grabs my hand which holds a ping pong ball, and makes a throwing motion along with me. I giggle. This is going to be fun.

It's a rough competition. They are all pretty skilled, but Beca is better.
Right now we're tie. If I don't get our last point, no one wins.
I take aim and make my shot. The ping pong goes right in and we win. I squeal triumphant and give Beca a double high five, as we jump around in victory. The boys laugh at our behaviour, but leave with the plastic cups without any more comments.
"Wanna try the real ping pong?" She asks me and holds a bat towards me.
"Sure." I gladly take the bat from her.
Again she quickly teaches me the rules and we start playing.

I place my bat down on the table.
"I think we've done this enough now, don't you?" I ask her defeated. We've been plying for quite a while now, and Beca is way too good at it. She's beat me in every game we've played so far! At least I still got one point. I made her hit the ping pong so it flew diagonally across the table and onto the floor. That was a great victory for me!
"What, are you a sore loser?" She asks me teasingly.
"No, I just don't want to play anymore."
"Fine." She giggles. "We could go sit by the pool?"
"Okay."

"So why are you here?" She asks me.
"Well, I could hear music playing and I got curious." I quickly say. "What about you?"
"I'm the one hosting the party." She explains.
"But why were you on your own then?"
"I told my friends to invite some of their friends. Their friends did the same thing and now I don't even know half of the people here." She laughs.
"Oh, okay." I laugh too, and carefully place my hand right above her knee. She looks at me surprised, but doesn't say anything. I smile at her, and she quickly gives me a smile back.

We continue to sit like that, in a comfortable silence, just enjoying each others company.
The music from inside changes and a nice beat is played.
"Hey, this is one of my mixes! Come on, it's perfect for spontaneous dancing!" She gets all hype, and pulls me up. I laugh at her silliness. I have no idea what she means by my mixes, but it's pretty cute.

We only manage to dance for about 10 seconds, when the beat out of no where is replaced with a slow song. Beca stops dancing immediately.
"What happened to my mix?" She asks disappointed. "I'm just gonna go outside again."
"No, stay here. I like this song." I beg her, even though I've never heard it before.
"Okay." She sighs. I smile and put my arms around her. She does the same with me and smiles too. We sway to the music. Our eyes are locked at each other. This feels incredible.
I let my hand glide down her arm and then bring it to her hair.
"I really like your hair. It's so beautiful and soft." I compliment.
She giggles and starts playing with my hair too. "I can say the same thing about yours."
I smile at her.
Suddenly she pulls me away from the crowded room, and into a smaller one with no people. She then puts her arms around me again and continues dancing.
"What was that for?" I giggle.
"I don't know." She shrugs and gives me another smile, which gladly I return.
Soon the song is over and we stop dancing, our eyes still locked.
I slowly lean forward and give her a small kiss. She looks at me for a moment, before reconnecting our lips, in a longer kiss this time. I smile into it.
"Let's go out to the pool again." Beca whispers after a while. I only nod. I'm too happy to form any words right now.

"Uh look, there's punch!" Beca says. She walks to a table near the pool, fills two plastic cups and hands me one of them. I take a sip. It tastes good actually, very sweet.
"Oh, you got something. Just a little..." Beca reaches out and wipes the side of my mouth. I laugh.
We stay at the table, just talking and drinking some punch.

"Hey, you!" A voice interrupts our conversation. I turn my head to see a girl approaching us. She looks a little bit mad. "This is my jacket. Did you steal it?"
I look at her confused. I didn't steal it, I just found it near the pool. I had planned to lay it back where I found it. Just not now.
"Hey, I think there has been a misunderstanding." Beca walks next to me and takes my punch. She places it down on the ground next to hers.
"Yes, this is my jacket." The girl answers annoyed.
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to steal it. I was planning on giving it ba-" before I know it she's pushed me into the pool. I feel my legs joining and growing together. Oh no, not good!
Just as I'm about to panic, I hear someone jumping in the water. I open my eyes and see Beca. She swims towards me and reaches for my chin. I grab her hand and connect our lips. If just this was possible. But it isn't, I know she's not a mermaid like me.
Beca lifts me up from the pool. She sits down and hugs me. The girl from before is just staring down at us in shock.
"What's going on Chloe, are you okay?" Beca asks me.
I nod. I can't explain it to her. Now that I'm a mermaid again, I I just need the sea. I know it's not far from here.
"Water. I need the sea." I mange to say.
"Alright, here we go." She lifts me up in her arms and carries me away. I cling to her all the way, down a long steep staircase and across the beach.
I look at her broken hearted.
She sits down and gently lay me in the shallows.
"Quickly swim away. The others have probably already heard of you. Who knows if they're going to try and catch you!" She says with a thick voice. I nod understanding. I flick my tail and make my way towards the open sea.
Before diving under, I turn my head back one last time. "I'll alway remember you." I yell, with a voice just as thick as hers. "Only you!" Then a wave splashes over me and I'm part of the sea again. But this won't be the last time I've stepped on the dry land. I will find her again, as soon as I get the opportunity.
