The published version of this story is out today! 🎉🎉🎉
Look for the revised and expanded published
version of this story, re-titled SCARED LITTLE RABBITS, available now in bookstores and online!I found it at my local Barnes & Noble. This is my third published novel (and third release-day bookstore selfie!) but I'll never get used to the feeling of walking into a store and seeing my book sitting on the shelf... I swear, it makes me cry every time 😭
If you want to read the published version, it's available now in paperback or e-book.
Type in ScaredLittleRabbits.com to your web browser, and it will give you this full list of retailers with clickable links.
By the way, if you belong to a public library, you can see if they have Scared Little Rabbits in their collection. If it's not in their system, there's usually a way that you can suggest for them to add it by filling out a form online. Please do! Or talk to your librarian if you're not sure how. That's such an amazing way to support a book without spending any $$$ at all!
Now for some fun little sneak peeks... Do you want to see what the books will look like inside? Here's a few pages to give you a sense:
You might recognize some things from the Wattpad story you all read, but note the name of our main character has changed to Nora. Why? I don't know, I've been seeing so many books with characters named Ellie, and I wanted to make her a little more unique!
But the name is just a superficial thing. There's actually a ton of bigger differences in the published version! I paid attention to all your comments while editing, and here are two of the biggest changes:
1) The whole dual-timeline thing with all the "before" and "after" headings... wayyyy too complicated! I like to jump around in time when I'm drafting, but it didn't serve any useful purpose to the story. I changed the structure completely. Chronological order for the win!
2) Eleanor... What's up with that girl? What's her motivation? Why is she so controlling? She desperately needed to be rounded out as a character. I fixed that by adding a series of 7 added chapters from Eleanor's POV! They're all written journal-style in a secret Dropbox that she keeps on the Winthrop library computers, and I did my best to make her more complicated than the typical "mean girl" bully. Here's a little peek at how her first journal entry looks.
(No, your eyesight isn't failing. It's blurred out because I don't technically have permission from my publisher to share this page... shhhhhhh! 😬🤫)
So that's all the latest news! What do you think of the changes? Good? I hope so! I'm so excited for how it all turned out, and I can't wait for all of you to read it!
Much love,
Viv
