In The Pines

Chapter 2

The sun had risen only a half hour ago. The day air was fresh and calming. The weird creatures of Gravity Falls roamed through the forest oddly quieter today. It was the very idea of serenity. Then Mabel burst through the bedroom door.

"DIPPER PACIFICA YOU'VE GOTTA WAKE UP AND SEE THIS!" She yelled.

Pacifica had jolted up, she had never been awoken in such a manner. Dipper on the other hand woke up like this around once a week. He rolled over in bed.

"Mabel it's too early for this. Can't it wait another 3 hours?"

"No Dipper it can't wait. This is amazing! You two have got to come see it!"

Mabel ran down the hallway calling for them to follow. Pacifica was still confused over what happened. She wasn't even sure if she was fully awake yet. She looked over at Dipper who was getting out if bed.

"Your really getting up this early?" She asked unsure how he had any energy.

"If I don't she'll only come back louder." Dipper said sounding slightly annoyed at being woken up. "Come on. Maybe what she found is actually amazing."

They followed her down the hallway to a closet. She was bouncing up and down in front of the door gesturing them towards her.

"Alright you two." Mabel said putting her hand on the the door knob. "Feast your eyes on...THIS!"

Mabel swung open the door revealing  a box of fireworks. "Woah." Dipper exclaimed. "Mabel are you thinking what I'm thinking?" They put their hands on each others shoulders.

"CRAZY ROOFTOP FIREWORKS PARTY!" They both yelled. Pacifica looked concerned. She had only ever seen fireworks above her house set off by the servants. Before she had time to voice her concerns a voice snuck up on them.

"Not so fast kids!" Grunkle Stan said. They all looked at each other with worry. "There is no way I am letting you set off these dangerous illegal fireworks...without me."

The twins smiled at each other. "Yeah I've had these babies here since my trip to Mexico last summer." Stan said "Considering how late I got the pugs down there I'm lucky they gave me this many." He laughed to himself. "Mabel do me a favor and set these up on the roof. Me and Dipper need to talk about something."

Mabel smiled and picked up the box. "I'm gonna aim them at the tree where the squirrels that tried to eat my earrings live in." She said as she carried a box away.

Dipper looked at Pacifica. She was nervously avoiding eye contact with Stan. He wasn't sure if it was because she was scared of what he would say, or because he wasn't wearing pants. He took a deep breath.

"Grunkle Stan I-"

"Look kid, I know your getting to that age where you like girls. And I'm happy you found one your own age." He put the side of his hand up to his mouth and leaned into Dipper's ear. "And whose rich." He returned to his previous position. "But you can't just bring girls to stay the night without supervision. Now it's not that I don't trust you not to-"

"GRUNKLE STAN IT'S NOT LIKE THAT!" Dipper quickly interjected. "She ran away from home. She doesn't have anywhere else to go."
