Ana's POV
As I watched him slowly walking away on the hospital corridor, I couldn't help but think that I should have behaved differently. I don't know, maybe tell him how great he is, or that the world of tennis wouldn't be the same without him... Or I could have given him advice on how to make the healing process of his ankle faster. I could have done something more, because an encounter like this happens once in a lifetime. He even agreed to help me with the media thing, even though he didn't know me at all, and I didn't even tell him how grateful I was for that....
"Ana, are you listening to me?" - the happy voice of Jake brought me back to reality from my daydreaming.
"Yes, of course." - I answered and he looked at me, narrowing his eyes.
"Really? Then what were we talking about?" - he asked and I realized that I couldn't remember any of the things he had told me.
"Maybe about going out tomorrow?" - I tried my best guess.
"Great guess." - he said. - "So, I'm gonna tell you again, but this time I want you to concentrate on me, not on the world famous and unreachable Rafael Nadal, okay?"
I glared at him wide-eyed. - "I'm not.... I was just... I was thinking about something else..." - I tried to make him believe, but he knew me better.
"Yeah, of course." - he said, rolling his eyes. - "So, we're going out tomorrow because you and Lizzy owe Oliver and I for covering your asses during your little Wimbledon adventure, if I remember correctly..." - he explained.
"Yeah, about that..." - I started but he cut me off.
"The best way to repay us is if the two of you pay a round for us tomorrow." - he winked at me and put his arm around my shoulders.
"I'll talk to Lizzy about it, then." - I said and slowly pulled myself out of his hold.
"There's no need to do that, she has already agreed." - he answered as we were walking towards my office.
"And where are you planning to go? - I asked him.
"We haven't decided yet. I'll talk to Oliver, he surely knows a few good places around here." - he told me and turned around to get back to work. - "I'll tell you the details tomorrow. Get that Spanish guy out of your head by then!" - he teased me as he looked back above his shoulder and I just rolled my eyes at him.
I stepped into my office, closed the door behind me and took a deep breath.
What if he's right? I can't be daydreaming about some handsome, world famous, professional tennis player while I'm at work. Or anywhere. I had never been the fangirl type of person and I definitely do not intend to become one now. My life is complicated enough as it is. He stepped into my life 2 days ago and today he stepped out of it. For good. Period. So, no more daydreaming. I have to get his hazel eyes and adorable smile out of my head. Not to mention his strong accent that gave me chills...Enough!!!
After giving myself this lecture, I decided to go and find Lizzy, but as I was about to open the door I heard someone shouting my name on the corridor.
"Ana!" - her voice was angry, nothing good was going to come out of this tone.
"I'm here, come in and stop shouting!" - I scolded her before she had the chance to tell me why she was here.
"There's no one here, I can do whatever I please! Especially when my best friend is meeting Rafa Nadal in secret. Again!" - she was clearly freaked out. - "You could have at least introduced me, for God's sake!"
