"Master Sterling we have the papers and Mr. Anderson is pulling into the north entrance of the mall. Have you found the girl?"
Orion ignored the blaring voice coming from the small Bluetooth device in his ear, and focused on the task at hand.
The blue sky was blanketed by large, white crystal snow fall. The big puffs of snow covering everything in its wake. Through the white haze of snow, his sight caught ahold of multiple freezing humans huddled up in ill fitted coats and jackets passing by the small park that was littered in dog crap and dirty benches. Orion distinctly honed in on the human with a specific brightly colored, ill fitting, puffy jacket. The human woman who smelt of apples.
Through the hustle and bustle of the park, he could hear her voice clearly. She was upset. Her voice was hushed, as she wore down the snow, pacing back and forth in the small park.
"Please I promise. Just give me a few more days. I can't be evicted. I have no where else to go. I don't have anywhere to go," she spoke into the phone softly, pleading with whoever was on the line. Most likely the person who she was renting her living space from. "It's the middle of winter, please. I'll be homeless. No...I will! Don't hang up!"
He watched closely as the young woman cursed under her breath, tears leaking down her flushed cheeks. He watched her bring her shaken hands up to her face and wipe her most likely frost bitten face.
"Master Sterling? Are you still on the line?"
There was some type of commotion on the other end of the phone and Orion snapped out of his thoughts to answer his servant. "I'm fine Fred...are you okay? What is all that noise?"
"Master Anderson please stop this!"
"Damn Fred give me your phone!" A familiar voice snapped before more rustling ensued. "Orion man I'm telling you marching up to a human and laying down the law is not going to work. We aren't living in story book land. She'll freak and then you'll have her arrested!"
Orion's jaw clenched, and began to rub his temples. As much as he enjoyed Deon Anderson's friendship he was not in the mood for 'friendly advice' when it came to his other half. "Whatever I choose to do with my half is none of your concern, Deon. Friend or not, your advice isn't warranted so give Fred back the phone. You already agreed to oversee the signing of this contract so get your shit together."
A scoff came from the other line. "How can you be such an ass and my closest friend at the same time? I don't agree with this shit but sure I'll stick around so I can tell you I told you so," Deon spoke into the phone while his eyes followed his other half. She was still pacing the park walkway and crying.
"I know what I'm doing. She's in a predicament anyway. It would only make sense to take advantage of this moment," Orion explained to his friend as he began to make his descent over to the one person he was supposed to be emotionally and physically tied to for the rest of his life.
