I got up from the table and walked back to check on Sam and Claire. As I walked closer I could hear Claire talking to Sam about what she saw.
"I remember hearing a lady screaming for help in the front yard. I looked out my window to see daddy get sucked up into the tree."
Their house sits in front of the woods, easy hunting grounds for a Wendigo. I walked back to the kitchen.
"Dean, can I talk to you for a moment?" I nodded my head towards the living room.
"I heard Claire talking to Sam about how she saw her dad get 'sucked up' in one of the trees outside. He's got to be in the woods behind their house." Dean nodded to me, knowing I might be onto something.
"Jenny, are there any cave systems in the woods behind your house?" Dean asked.
"Uh, I know there's an old mine shaft back there. I don't think it's very big."
"I bet John is in there. You wanna grab Sam and we'll head out to the mine shaft?" I asked Dean. He nodded and walked down the hall towards Claire's bedroom.
"We're going to find John. I promise, you will see your husband alive again." I put my hand on top of Jenny's. She smiled weakly at me.
"Thank you." She said as tears weld up in her eyes. Dean returned with Sam and we headed out back. Jenny stood on the back porch holding Claire and watched us walked into the woods, secretly hoping we would return with her husband.
We walked into the woods for about fifteen minutes when I spotted and concrete and wood structure.
"Boys!" I called out. "I found the shaft."
Sam and Dean walked up behind me. We all looked at each other. Our attention snapped back when he heard a man's voice called out from inside.
