  Y/n and Lily pulled their luggages through the station, searching for a particular pillar between platforms 9 and 10. "There it is!" Lily excitedly pointed.

  The closer they got to platform 9¾, the more nervous y/n got. What if it's not what she expects it to be? What if this wasn't even the right place and they'd both end up running straight into a wall?

   Lily hugged her parents goodbye before making her way to Petunia. "Goodbye Petunia! I'm so sorry you couldn't attend Hogwarts with us, I know how much you want to." Lily looked at the ground sadly.

  "Me? Why would I want to attend a school full of weirdos like you?" Petunia remarked. Y/n's face crinkled in confusion as to why Petunia would say something like that.

  "We read the letter you sent to Dumbledore." Y/n said gently, not wanting to hurt Petunia's feelings. "We both know you wanted to go, but we will gladly talk to Dumbledore, I'm sure he'll let you in! Right y/n?" Lily jabbed y/n in the ribs. "Of course!" Y/n smiled encouragely.

  Petunia did not look so optimistic, in fact, she looked furious. "I do not want to go! I'm perfectly happy living my life here without freaks like you two!" Petunia pointed at the duo. "But you also wanted to go!" Lily cried. Y/n would have laughed at Petunia's bewildered face if the situation was so serious. "Freaks."Petunia whispered for the last time before stomping away.

  Lily's posture sulked. "We better get going, or the train might leave without us." Y/n said with a soft smile, trying to uplift Lily's spirit. It didn't work. The red head didn't even spare her friend a glance as she walked towards the platform, y/n followed in pursuit.

    The young girl froze in her tracks as she witnessed her friend successfully cross the pillar. Quite frankly, she was expecting Lily to crash right into it.

  Watching her friend go through it with no problem, y/n didn't feel as frightened. There was still that thought of getting pummeled by the wall, but it subsided once she was met face to face with a maroon train. It was spectacular looking but y/n was more focused on finding her redheaded friend.

  "Hogwarts express, departing in five minutes," a monotone voice blasted on the intercoms. 'Perhaps Lily had already boarded the train?'

                 ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
  "Lily there you are. I thought I lost you-," y/n froze at the sound of Lily's sniffles. "What happened!?" Y/n rushed to her friend's side. "It's just Petunia. I'm not going to see her for months and the way we left things off was awful!" Lily cried.
  The h/c haired girl tried to comfort her friend as best as she could, but she too couldn't help but feel terrible.
  The sound of the compartment door opening startled y/n. "I hope I'm not interrupting anything," Severus sheepishly said. His eyes trailed to Lily. "What's wrong?" He asked. "It's just that Petunia hates me!" Lily covered her face between her hands. "So what?" Severus spat. It was obvious that he wasn't very fond of the older girl. "You sure have a way with words," y/n rolled her eyes. Lily chose to brush off his words but she too was offended by his tone.
  Shortly after things cooled down, two boys entered the compartment. One had glasses while the others main feature was his long, curly, dark hair; Impressive for an 11 year old. Y/n wasn't sure if the two were acquainted or not as they stared out the window.
  "I hope all three of us will get sorted into Slytherin," Severus spoke to y/n and Lily. The boy across from them seemed to have heard him as his face contorted into one of pure disgust. "Slytherin? I'd rather leave than be sorted into that house. What do you think?" The boy with glasses, or rather James, asked the dark haired boy seated beside him. "My whole family had been sorted into slytherin, but I hope to break that tradition," the boy with long curly hair said proudly. James shook his head approvingly before speaking once again. "I want to be a Gryffindor, like my father." Severus laughed at James' words. "Do you have a problem?" James questioned, eyebrow cocked. "Gryffindors only have brawn while Slytherin has brains." Severus proudly stated. The boy with black hair, also known as Sirius black, interjected. "Well where do you want to go seeing as you have neither." This caused James to roar with laughter.
  Y/n was quickly getting annoyed and it seemed like her two friends were as well. Lily sat up and looked at James with great dislike. "Let's go find another compartment." She angrily spoke, her face tinted with a slight red colour. She pulled y/n by the hand and beckoned Severus. As they were leaving, James mocked Snape and attempted to trip the two girls, even though he didn't have a reason to. "What is your problem, you incompetent idiot." Y/n spoke, not having any of it. "Oi, you actually speak." James laughed. "Clearly." Y/n retorted, irritated.
            ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  After a long, bone aching journey, they finally arrived at Hogwarts. Y/n had seen what Hogwarts looked like many times through pictures, but they will never compare to the large, magnificent castle that stood before her. She excitedly jumped, clasping her hands together. "Lily do you see this!" The girl smiled, giggling slightly. Her excitement seemed to amuse Severus as he could be seen with a smug smile on his face.

 "Now, before the feast begins, you must all be sorted into a house." Mcgonagall's voice echoed across the spacious corridor. "There are four houses."

"Hufflepuff; the house of loyalty and fair play".

"Ravenclaw; a house full of wit and knowledge.

"Gryffindor; who value the brave at heart."

When Mcgonagall said that, y/n could see James excitedly whisper to Sirius.

"And Slytherin; who's ambition never comes to end."

  The young professor cleared her throat. "When I open these doors, you will all patiently wait for your name to be called. Once it is, go sit on the stool and the sorting hat will sort you into your given house." She smiled at the students. "Follow me."

                  ~~~~~~~~~~~~~
   Y/n sent Lily a thumbs up when her name was called. The redhead looked agitated, like a deer caught in headlights. She sat nervously on the stool, waiting for Mcgonagall to drop the sorting hat on her head.
  "GRYFFINDOR." The hat yelled out for everyone to hear. The Gryffindor table applauded at their new found member. Lily, however, looked nowhere near as optimistic at them. Y/n guessed that it was due to the fact that she got sorted into the same house as Potter.
  Slowly, the crowd of first years started thinning out until y/n was one of the mere five left standing. During the sorting, Severus got sorted into Slytherin while that obnoxious boy, Sirius, broke his family's long tradition by getting sorted into Gryffindor.
  "L/n Y/n." The first year girl's name was called out. She looked out in the crowd, attempting to find Lily's comforting face amongst the sea of watchful eyes. Y/n attempted to walk with confidence but completely broke character when she sat upon the stool.
  'Hmm, yes, I see,' the hat spoke within y/n's head, startling her. 'A kind, yet smart girl with big dreams. I know the perfect place for you,' the hat spoke with a mysterious tone.
"GRYFFINDOR."
  Lily's eyes lit up. "Yes!" She yelled, jumping up and down in excitement. Y/n sent her a big grin as she got off the stool.
 "I don't know what I would do without you." Lily spoke in a dramatic tone once her friend neared the table. And when she sat down next to her, she pulled her into a side hug.
              ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

  "May the feast begin." The headmaster declared after the rest of the first years were sorted.

  Friendly chatter filled the great hall, giving it a cozy atmosphere. Lily and Y/n dug into all sorts of savory foods while having a conversation of their own. "I hope we get to share a dorm together." Lily said while biting into what looked like a steak. "Me too!" Y/n replied, mindlessly looking up only to see Severus staring at the two of them. She couldn't tell what he was thinking by the monotone expression he wore. She thought it'd be best if she just waved to him and to her surprise, he waved back.

   As the feast came to end, it was time for y/n to settle in. Classes will be starting tomorrow and she'll need to be prepared.
