"Wake up!" Y/n felt a pulling near her arm, causing her to swat whatever it was away. "Ouch." A certain someone yelped, retaliating.
The sleepy girl opened her eyes to see an annoyed Lily Evens standing over her bed. "Wake up, unless you want to miss breakfast." Normally, that would motivate her to get out of bed, but the girl was too fatigued.
You see, the h/c was so overwhelmed by the prospect of being at Hogwarts that she ended up going to bed at ungodly hours, annoying all her dorm mates who had to shush her every few minutes.
"I've looked over both our schedules and it looks like we have potions and transfigurations together." Lily blabbered before telling the girl once again to wake up, to which she reluctantly did. She put on her robes but struggled when it came to the tie, having to ask Lily to tie it for her.

"Now everyone, grab your wands and pay close attention to my hand movements." Professor Flitwick spoke. He was a short man with a mustache; y/n assumed he was half goblin despite not knowing much about the creatures herself.
Flitwick held his hand out with his wand grasped tightly. "When casting the spell wingardium leviosa, you must swish and flick your wand, like this." The feather floated effortlessly around the room. "Swish and flick." He demonstrated once more before letting the students try.
*A/n - I know this may seem like I'm copying the original Harry Potter but I'm just trying to get the curriculum right.
A chorus of "Wingardium leviosa's" were heard throughout the room, y/n's voice being mixed amongst them.
After a few failed attempts, y/n got her feather to levitate a feet or two off the table. She cheerfully smiled, looking around the room to see if anyone else had succeeded.
"Well done y/n!" Flitwick praised the girl, which caused a wave of insecurity to flush over her.

The class started nearing to an end but there were still students that couldn't figure out the newly taught spell. Flitwick ran around like a mad man, attempting to come to everyone's aid.
"How do you do it?" A smaller boy whispered beside her. Y/n turned around to see a sad looking feather rested upon the table. "Oh let me show you-." Y/n was interrupted by the professor's voice, telling everyone to pack up as class would soon be dismissed.
"Wait!" Y/n stopped the boy from getting up. "Before you go, make sure to be very precise with the hand movements next time." She showed him with a smile. "Thanks, I'll try to remember it!"
"Peter, what are you doing talking to this nuisance?" Potter gagged as he walked up to the two of them. Y/n bit her cheek, why did he always have to ruin everything? She wondered why James hated her so much. He barely even knew her. He based her entire personality on an unfortunate train ride.
"Look, I know we started off on the wrong foot, but I would like to make up. We shouldn't despise each other because of that silly little incident on the train." "No thanks." James replied bluntly to y/n's dismay. "I'm not saying we should become friends, I'm just saying we should stop this childish behavior." Y/n tried to reason. "And besides, it was Severus that said all those things - not me." The girl put her hands up in surrender. "He had no right to say those things to such a noble house. He said that everyone sorted into Gryffindor lacked brains." James paused, a light bulb seemingly going off in his head. "Ha! He thinks you're an idiot!" He bursted into laughter. "You too." Y/n pointed out. "Anyways," James cleared his throat. "I don't need you as a friend. I already got plenty." Potter boasted before walking away with a final smirk. Peter followed him with a red face, most likely from second hand embarrassment.
"Goodbye y/n! I'll hopefully see you some other time." Peter whisper-shouted to the girl. Y/n waved him off as her mind trailed somewhere else. She and James were officially enemies.

"What happened to you?" Lily asked y/n as she seated next to her in potions. "Potter," the girl simply replied. The red head nodded her head even though she didn't quite understand.
Y/n scanned the potions room while waiting for the professor to start his lesson. There were a vast amount of mysterious items displayed on the shelves. Many of which she had never seen in her life. She constantly asked Severus questions about potions and he would try and tell her as best as he could.
Speaking of the Slytherin boy, she could see him seated beside some snarky looking blonde.
She wasn't sure what her and Severus' relationship was. Did he think less of her because she was a Gryffindor?
The professor stood up and walked towards the chalk board. He was a plump looking man dressed in a tattered suit. "Well, shall we begin?"
