  Y/n never thought she was the one that deserved getting praise and attention. She was nothing special, after all. The girl that everyone knew, yet never talked to. A second choice. The spotlight was never casted upon her but rather next to her, on Lily Evans. It may seem like they are enemies, but it’s the complete opposite. She’s y/n's dearest - and only - friend. Yes, she may have constantly outshone her but she was always keen on sharing the spotlight.

   You see, y/n and Lily had a special bond like no other. One bonded by magic. The two girls had no idea how they were capable of doing such tricks until an eventful day at the park.

                        ~~~~~~~~~~
   Y/n swung her legs forwards and backwards as she tried to get as much height on the swing. "Look Lily, I'm gonna jump!" "No y/n, you might hurt yourself!" The read head protested. The stubborn h/c girl shook her head. "No I'm not, watch." Y/n swung one more time before making her grand jump. To Lily’s and Petunia's surprise, the young girl landed elegantly on her feet. "Woah! It looked like you slowly fell towards the ground. Let me try!" "Lily no!" Petunia angrily said.
Petunia was never fond of the duo's so-called talents. It was obvious that she was jealous and y/n felt bad for her at times.
"Lily stop this right now!" Petunia called out again as Lily kept swinging higher and higher. Lily didn't listen and she took the leap. Lily stayed in the air for what seemed like five seconds before she too landed as gently as a feather.
The elder sisters face twisted to one of pure rage before settling on a defeated look."Lily, y/n, how do you guys do these things?" Petunia asked with a longing in her voice.
"It's because they're witches." A young boy with black hair came out from the trees."Witches?" Lily sounded offended as she snagged up y/n's hand, walking away with Petunia trailing behind.
  "Wait! there is nothing wrong with that. I myself, am a wizard. People like us are able to do magic," the boy said. Petunia stopped in her tracks. "Aren't you that snake boy from Spinner's End?" She said before walking again, this time Lily and y/n trailing behind.
Y/n and Lily thought about what the boy said and were curious to know if he was right. They could both do things that shouldn't be possible but here they were. Luckily, it wouldn't take long until they would really find out if this 'snake' boy was lying or not.
                      ~~~~~~~~~~

   When y/n found out that she was a witch, she felt almost guilty. She treated the boy from a few days ago so cruelly when all he was trying to do was tell the truth. Besides the girl herself, everyone around her celebrated the news. Neither of y/n’s parents came from magical descent which is what made it so special, and shocking.

  When a woman with a green dress came knocking upon y/n’s front door, she was surprised, not expecting guests. She shyly told the women to come in, telling her she’ll get her parents.That’s when the woman, known as Minerva Mcgonagall, told her the surprising news. Y/n found out that she’s not so ordinary after all. On September 1st, she’d be attending Hogwarts School Of Witchcraft and Wizardry. It took a while for y/n's parents to wrap their heads around the concept of magic. It’s normally found in books and fairytales, not real life. With a proper explanation, it took them no more than half an hour to find out just how real magic was.
