TABLEEGH (NOBLE DA’WAH) – A Guide to Happiness and Peace

My dear readers, I have not so far ventured into the thick forest of literature where you may stumble across the unexpected.  I know this path is difficult to lay for everyone to move easily but being a trekker without compass or light I am trying to show you something, which you may or may not see and relish.

I thought of sharing the experience I had with the realms of life and still I am learning.  OK, let us move in In shaa Allah.

1.     TURNING TOWARDS ALLAH

I was selected in the Defence and posted at Delhi Air Headquarters.  Basically no tilting towards religion.  Kabhi Kabhi prayers.  No getting up early mornings and so on.  My colleague by name Sirajuddin was the only friend I had.

Once I told him, “let us go for a movie”

He said, “I will take you to a place better than that”.

He took me to nearby Sunehri Bagh Masjid opposite to Air Headquarters and said, “as long as you remain here, you are safe, your mind healthy and you will be peaceful, whereas in the theatre you spend money, waste your health, commit mistakes, skip your prayers and finally lose peace of mind”.

Then he told me to take him to Markaz Nizamuddin, Banglewali Masjid to translate the Bayan (speech) from Urdu to English.  For his sake, I accompanied him to Markaz every Thursday, note down the speech and write it in a sheet in English.  Slowly, my heart turned towards the intricacies of Islamic tenets.   Moulana Umar Sb Palanpuri, Moulana Ubaidullah Sb, Qari Zaheeruddin Sb., Suleman Jhanji Sb., used to deliver the Bayans.

Once he said, let us stay in the Markaz for one night.  It was December and very very cold.  We were given Razai (Quilt).  Around 2 ‘o’ clock in the night I heard the feeble sound of weeping.  Slowly I peeped out of my quilt as to who is disturbing my sleep.  I saw Munshi Allah Dutta Sb leading the Tahajjuth prayers and a sizeable Jamath was following him.  He was making Duas in which he was weeping like a child.  I missed the golden opportunity and covered my self again and slept.  Today I feel ashamed of not joining the congregation of Rahmath.  Our visit to Markaz was regular.

Opposite to Markaz, in the Humayun’s Tomb, there was a Masjid and a Blind Hakeem sb was treating people through Unani Medicines.  His diagnosis was through reading the pulse of the wrist.  Once, we both went there and I was the first patient.

After reading my pulse he started telling, “your heart is OK, your lungs are OK, your liver is OK, your stomach is OK, your kidneys are OK, why did you come?”.

Then my friend Sirajuddin showed his hand, after saying a few words, he said “your liver is not functioning properly and you will be having such and such symptoms”. He suggested a medicine also.

Unfortunately, my beloved friend Sirajuddin could not continue the medicine due to many commitments in the family, left for Chennai for treatment, but died at the age of 35 due to cancer of the liver.  The whole credit of all my prayers and other religious work will of course, go to him only.  May Allah (SWT) accept him.
