2. First Experience in Jamath

2. FIRST EXPERIENCE IN JAMATH

I left Delhi and joined Railways in Chennai.

Initially, my mother used to tell me, “Go with whoever you want but not with a Tableegh wala.  They will simply drag you and make you forget your family and house”.  I started with 3 days Jamath and the changes in me like saying salaams aloud upon entering the house, reciting duas on every occasion, following the Sunnah of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH), avoiding dining table, saying salaams to everyone impressed her and once she said, “you take me also in the jamath!”.

I was to get married in October and it was decided that before marriage I must go for 40 days Jamath to learn the intricacies of Deen and Duniya (religion and wordly affairs). 

As there was no jamath in August, I was sent alone with a letter to Markaz Nizamuddin, Bangleywali Masjid, Delhi with instructions to meet Moulana Yusuf Ceyloni sb.

He welcomed me and the atmosphere in the markaz kept me engaged in listening to bayans, correcting the Quran from the Quran Halqa, etc., 

My desire to stay there for long was shortlived.  A Maqlood (mixed) jamath of two persons from UP, two from Assam, two from Delhi, one from Vizag and myself from Chennai was formed and I was asked to lead the Jamath as Ameer to Jhunjunu district of Rajasthan!.

I was shocked and went and begged to Moulana Yusuf Ceyloni sb (who was with Qari Zaheeruddin sb in his room) that I am a brand new person without any experience in Tableegh and I have been made as Ameer.

May Allah (SWT) give Jaza to our elders, who have given their whole life in the path of Allah! Aameen.  Qari Zaheeruddin sb asked me,

“Tumko kuch bhi nahi aatha?” (You don’t know anything?)

I said “yes”.

“Rona Aatha hai?” (do you know how to cry?)

I said “yes”

“Jao, Ummath ke liye Rokay Aao” (Go and cry for the Ummath and come)

Reluctantly, I had to accept and our Jamath departed for Jhunjunu next day and I was not expecting for the unbelievable events to come!
