Religious Hypocrisy

DISCLAIMER: The verses mentioned here are highly graphic, and are in no way a representative of either Islam or Christianity. This is merely a criticism of some of the ideologies in both religions, and some ignorant discrepancies in politicization of religion, and is in no way hatred towards peace-abiding followers of both religions.

There's a huge hypocrisy on the (extreme) left, for instance, when it comes to religion. Islam and Christianity, both inherently pretty peaceful, both with holy books that have some pretty shitty verses.

"When a man sells his daughter as a slave, she will not be freed at the end of six years as the men are. If she does not please the man who bought her, he may allow her to be bought back again."
Exodus 21: 7-8

"And the elder said to the younger Our father is old, and there is no man left on the earth, to come in unto us after the manner of the whole earth. Come, let us make him drunk with wine, and let us lie with him, that we may preserve seed of our father. And they made their father drink wine that night: and the elder went in and lay with her father: but he perceived not neither when his daughter lay down, nor when she rose up. And the next day the elder said to the younger: Behold I lay last night with my father, let us make him drink wine also to night, and thou shalt lie with him, that we may save seed of our father. They made their father drink wine that night also, and the younger daughter went in, and lay with him: and neither then did he perceive when she lay down, nor when she rose up. So the two daughters of Lot were with child by their father." Genesis 19:31-36

That was the Bible^

"O you who believe! When you contract a debt for a fixed period, write it down. Let a scribe write it down in justice between you. Let not the scribe refuse to write as Allah has taught him, so let him write. Let him (the debtor) who incurs the liability dictate, and he must fear Allah, his Lord, and diminish not anything of what he owes. But if the debtor is of poor understanding, or weak, or is unable himself to dictate, then let his guardian dictate in justice. And get two witnesses out of your own men. And if there are not two men (available), then a man and two women, such as you agree for witnesses, so that if one of them (two women) errs, the other can remind her. " Sura 2:282

" If you fear highhandedness from your wives, remind them [of the teaching of Allah], then ignore them when you go to bed, then hit them. If they obey you, you have no right to act against them. ALLAH is most high and great." Sura 4:34

That was the Quran^

But there's also good verses in both.

"So we do not lose heart. Though our outer self is wasting away, our inner self is being renewed day by day. For this light momentary affliction is preparing for us an eternal weight of glory beyond all comparison, as we look not to the things that are seen but to the things that are unseen." Corinthians 4:16-18

"Our faith can move mountains." Matthews 17:20

(Bible)

"Is there any reward for good other than good?" Quran 55:60

"O You who believe! Enter absolutely into peace (Islam). Do not follow in the footsteps of satan. He is an outright enemy to you."  Quran: 2:208

(Quran)

You could argue about majority goodness or majority badness. My point is that both have both. Why is that then, that Muslims are celebrated in SJW culture and Christians let down? Could somebody here just acknowledge that yes, there's problems with both books, but at the end of the day, books don't define people? An ideology of verses does not define a wholesome, loving human being who just happens to follow a religion with such condemning verses. The religion doesn't inherently make somebody evil or good. Every religion has its extremists (check out Girl Defined and Paul and Morgan for Christian cringe- they're homophobic, sexist bigots), and its pioneering inspirations (God is Grey on Youtube is amazing).

Don't celebrate a religion. Celebrate its people. Accept that Islam has multiple ideologies, and some Islamic countries in the Middle East do have hurtful laws (Saudi Arabia, Iran). Generally people are good, even if they're part of (technically) the same religion as ISIS.

On the flip-side, I've seen people on the right counter-act and defend Christianity like there's absolutely NOTHING wrong with it. Ahem, ahem- purity culture, modesty culture, the chewing-gum analogy (basically every-time you have sex with someone, you get more chewed up like a piece of chewing gum, and who wants to eat a chewed gum... I KNOW IT'S DISGUSTING)

Fight Islamophobia, but don't outright deny there's things wrong with it. All religion will have things wrong with it, because religion breeds mob mentality, breeds fear. Muslims on the left need to denounce those verses that call gays to be stoned to death, and those that equate the testimony of one man to the testimony of two women, and Christians, stop telling me the Bible is ALL good because incest and genocide is not cool. Denounce those verses, mesh them with social justice so that it's not a pile of contradictions anymore, and move on with your life.

Politics and religion breeds pure hypocrisy, drama and basically annoying discussions that lead nowhere but to more hate, misunderstandings or prejudice.

Case in point, Narendra Modi, prime minister of India with his Hindutva party the BJP, that basically shuns Muslims.

SEPARATION OF CHURCH AND STATE (AND MOSQUE AND TEMPLE) Y'ALL.

Applies equally, left and right, although it's clearly more hyped that way.

Have a good day! I'm not against Islam or Christians, I'm against ideological pittance and law meshing and outright denial.
