The world meeting was today. After the official conferences, most countries hung around with others for a bit informally before dispersing. North Korea never wanted to go to these meetings, but South would always want to stay and talk to Japan, so North would always just sit awkwardly and hurry him up. They shared a car.Today was going as all world meetings go until South decided he was staying the night at Japan's place and taking the car. North would have to walk home. He sighed but didn't complain. It was really annoying that his brother would steal the car and just ditch him like that though.
China noticed him throw up his hood and head for the doors. "Hey, North Korea! Wait!" North turned around, wondering why someone was calling him. "Don't you usually ride home with your brother?"
"Yes, but he decided to hog the car to go to his girlfriend's and now I have to walk." He angrily turned around again, figuring that was the end of the interaction. But China grabbed on to his shoulder and stopped him. "Let me give you a ride. It's supposed to rain."
North shook him off overdramaticly. "Let me go."
"You really want to go walk out in the rain instead of taking a nice car ride?"
North went silent for a moment. "Fine."
China chuckled at the boy's determination not to have ANY relations. "Great. Come here."
He lead North to the car and they got on their way. "Why in the world did you offer to drive me?"
China shrugged. "I can admit being ditched like that is pretty annoying."
"It's SO annoying! I swear, I'm going to nuke him. One of these days."
Then China did something North wasn't expecting, he laughed. North got defensive immediately.
"You can't laugh at me! I have a better army and better nukes than you!"
China just continued laughing, amused. "You act like a child."
North started to get embarrassed from the other country laughing at him. He crossed his arms. "Shut up.. Juche is superior."
But he couldn't help thinking about how China's laugh and voice sounded. He didn't really sound mean.
"Oh my god, are you blushing? Ha!" North realised for the first time that his cheeks were warm. He brought his hands up to his face in an attempt to cover it.
"I'm never going in another car ride with you. I'm not talking to you anymore." He looked out the window instead in frustration.
"Oh come onn."
North ignored him like a 1st grader.
"Fine. I'm sowy."
"Apologise for real."
China sighed. "Come on, North, you know I'm just playing around. We're cool, right?"
North reluctantly looked back at him. "Okay."
China put on more of a serious persona. "You know nuking your brother for real would be a very bad choice, right?"
"Says who?"
"The facts. You know America would be backing him up immediately, and none of us like America but he'd beat you in a second."
Instead of getting all defensive, North seemed disappointed in himself now. He saw the truth in that. And China noticed.
"Okay, that doesn't mean you're weak. I'm just saying, I don't want anything to happen to you."
"I don't want anything to happen to you...?" He echoed to himself.
"Yeah. So next time you feel like nuking someone, tell me, and we can work it out."
"Okay..." He trailed off, but the good ol' defensiveness came back. "But I WILL be strong enough to defeat all my enemies soon. Then I can just do it!"
China sighed with a smile. "Nooo! You can't nuke anyone."
"Wha- yes I can! You can't control me!"
"Annnd now you're a teenager. Great."
"JUCHE IS SUPERIOR!" North yelled as they pulled into the driveway.
China put a finger to his mouth to silence him. "闭嘴!别这么可爱了。"
The boy took the hand from his face. "Uhh, what? I don't know Chinese."
"I said, shut up, we're here."
North threw his hood back up. "Oh, yeah. Bye." He started on his way, but turned back around, leaning on the car seat. "Can you drive me more often? I don't want to ride with my brother."
He was surprised to see big tough guy China with a blush. "U-uh, yeah."
North raised an eyebrow. "That is what you said, right?" China looked away.
"What did you say?! What in the world did you say in Mandarin?" He hit his fists on the car seat.
"Ok ok, I said... I said, 'shut up, stop being so cute.'"
North Korea stared. "What? No way! I am not cute!" China began to giggle.
"Stop it! Stop with your giggling, or I'll nuke you!" He said, stomping a foot on the ground.
China started laughing harder, and watching him made North realise he was acting MAYBE A BIT like a child. And making China laugh made him feel good, so he joined in.
"Anyway, see you later." North entered his house with a big smile on his face, for probably the first time ever. And China was glad he decided to drive the boy, already planning to give him a lift again next meeting.
