At the face of Danger

Ezra cursed loudly as more bullet shots echoed across the room. "Stay down" I urged him. "Alright" He nodded. "But we cannot stay here for long. We have to get to my office." He said softly looking at me. I know it is not over that when we will finally going to find a safe place he is going to blow. But for now, he is not because all he wanted was our safety.

"They are in" Ezra said stopping and pulling me swiftly inside a room. "How do you..." "Shhh... stay still they can hear us. Now listen." He said whispering. And I heard it footsteps. Yes they are in here. My body went rigid. I don't want to die in here. I want to see our baby born. I want to do it.

Ezra's eyes mirrored my expression. "Don't worry little one. I am going to get it out." He said holding my hand. "I want to get out with you. Not without you Ezra." He smiled. Now it will be a good time. I pulled him to me softly placing a kiss on his lips. "Do me a favor and don't die." I said he chuckled in response.

"Sure Princess." He poked his head out and get back in. "It is almost clear, I cannot see why we cant go out now. Because according to my calculations this is going to be the place they will sweep next. So, we need to go out now." I nodded. I trust his judgement over mine.

He walked towards his office door with me on toe. He looked into my eyes, worry was still lining his face. "I love you" he mouthed. "I love you too Ezra" He nodded. We are almost at the gates of his office when I heard the bullet swooped passed me. I was saved but I heard a grunt. And there was a red spot swept around Ezra's left arm. He had been hit.

"Ezra" I screamed. "No, don't stop now. We need to go, we need to go now." He said. And we made a run for it. "He bolted the doors and reached to his desk from the bottom side he pulled something out. A gun. He had a gun in here all the time? "Little one I want you to open the balcony door."

I followed his instructions and he told me to close it. "No, you are coming with me. Now." I whispered. "I can't I have to protect you, both of you. I want to, now see there is a hatch in there. There was another gunshot which Ezra has intercepted already. He pressed a button and I was shielded in a box like structure protected. But he was still in the open. I can see him but he cannot see me. Then I was descending.

"No, no,no" I shouted as I saw myself going farther and farther from him. "Ezra you fool, if you die I am going to kill you afterwards" "Mam are you alright?" There was this police van and detectives surrounding the area. "No, My husband he is up there." I told them. "Don't worry, we will get him out." He assured me. Then they wrapped me in the blanket and I stood where everyone else was.

"Please, be alright Ezra" I whispered. Myra noticed me and she came and hugged me. "I am sorry, if I had known something like that is going to happen then, I wouldn't have let it happen. I wouldn't have let him walk away from here." I hugged her and the tears escaped. "He chose to save me. He was there, he... he..." "Deep breathes Rosa, nothing good will come out of it. Just have a little faith, it is Ezra Olyphant we are talking about. That man is hell stubborn"

I laughed. Yes, my Ezra is like that stubborn. And if something happens to him, I can never be able to forgive myself. "Come on let's just sit in the coffee shop on the other side." She said. "Damien and others are there too, I came here to check on you. I wondered where could you be in all this mess." I followed her into the coffee shop. Sam was the first one to hug me.

"Thank god you are back in one piece." He looked relieved, all of them. "Ezra, he chose to save me in face of danger. He got hurt, if he cannot make it out, I would never be able to forgive myself." I settled down at a booth, my eyes trained on the news report. The building was burning, gunshots echoing and they are telling that Billionaire Ezra Michel Olyphant is trapped in there and they cannot confirm what is happening there.

"They are calling it a sudden terrorist act. It was random, no one was aware of this one." I chuckled and all of them looked at me. "Terrorist attack huh? I bet they want everyone to see it that way." They all look at me and Lucian spoke "Do you know something we don't?" He asked. "Yes, probably. I know this is no random terrorist act that is for sure and I know it is not terrorist after all. It is someone who dislikes Ezra so much that he can go to such lengths to harm him."

Lucian's eyes turned thoughtful. "Who do you thought it can be?" "we are getting a news report that Mr. Olyphant is indeed is safe and now he is coming out." Ezra is alright. All of us shied in relaxation. But something about it isn't alright. I know something here doesn't adds up. There is something wrong with this picture.

"Ezra Michael Olyphant is alright. He is indeed all right, apart from a bullet wound on his arm, he is all right." I saw a text on my phone and I knew instantly what was wrong.

"Next time he won't be so lucky, chose wisely what you want to do "

I know why it felt so odd suddenly. It was all an act, a warning of what he can do. A display of his power. But I am not going to succumb to it. Not now not ever. He doesn't know me very well. Not even Ezra Olyphant had been able to terrify me.

If Lucas Hamilton thinks that endangering the life of my husband will motivate me to accept his proposal, he is so wrong. Ezra was the last one who had ever be able to evoke that emotion out of me. And I am not going to repeat that mistake ever again. Not with anyone.

The door of the coffee shop opened and Ezra walked in. I ran and hugged him. His hand was in cast. Looks like they had patched him up. I moved back and slapped him hard. Everyone turned silent. "You asshole, you scared the daylights out of me. Why on earth you did that. You could have been killed and then.,.. then..." I started to hyperventilate.

"Rosa, deep breathes. Deep breaths little one" He pulled me to him. His touch help me relax. "never scare me like that ever again alright?" He nodded. "I promise I will not scare you like that ever again. I promise I am sorry little one. I am so sorry" He whispered holding me. Yes, I am not giving up, not when we are at a brink of making it out. I am not giving up on this, on us and on our relationship.
