Jade | Sasha

The holidays were coming faster than Jade would have liked, however, she wasn't in a state of dread she had been in with previous holidays. She was actually looking forward to go home this time. Midterms had passed and the children were gearing up for their final exams of the semester, all of them buzzing with delight at the prospect of being own holidays within the next week. Jade was sat in her art class one chilly afternoon, half paying attention to her work while she watched the rain beat against the windows, groaning internally.

Her final project for the semester had to be a self-portrait painting, acrylic, oil, or gouache, inspired by one of the avant-guard artists they had learned about through the term. Jade had decided to do a piece after Jacqueline Marval; both for her beautiful, yet realistic depictions of the modern woman in the early 1900s, but as well as she was the only female artist they had learned about all year.

She was multitasking between ensuring that the gouache paints didn't drip onto her smock or uniform, while having an in-depth conversation with Sasha over the importance of her history grade.

Ya cannot flunk history just

because you don't wanna do it.

My point is that I'm going to be studying sound

engineering, what do I need history for anyway??

So should you meet a nice guy who's a

big world war two tanker fanatic

Not my type. I like tattoos and gullibility.

Oh.

Speaking of, how old did you say your brother was again?

46

Oh, very funny

I'm saving you from disappointment, heartbreak,

and what I can only assume is sloppy sex

You're only assuming, then??

Well, the walls in my house back home are paper thin

:vP

You disgust me

Jade shoved her phone back into her pocket and took off her smock, excusing herself to the toilet and ducking out into the halls. Instead of heading towards the loo, she had decided to pull out a fresh cigarette and a lighter. Jade pushed through the grandiose front doors of the school and rounded to the ivy-covered wall, facing east. She was short enough as to not be spotted through any of the musty windows, so she leaned against the cold, slow-crumbling brick and placed the cigarette between her lips. The lighter had to be clicked a few times before she was able to light the end and take a puff.

It had only been less than three days since she'd confided in Alex, and not even twenty-four hours since she had spilled her story to her closest friends. It was strange how lighter Jade had felt, almost immediately. She hadn't felt so well, or perhaps solaced was a better word to describe it. The warmth that swirled in her insides was a feeling so unfamiliar to her, but how she welcomed it happily and gratefully.

"Jade!" the brunette jumped at the sound of her name. She turned her head, and to her surprise she spotted her older cousin coming towards her.

"Oliver," she spoke with surprise. He beamed that gorgeous, shining smile whilst his hair was messed from the light rain and harsh winds. He carried himself with such confidence and vigorous, it would be enough to make any young woman on school grounds swoon.
