When Friday comes, the girls had the whole day to themselves as no one in the house had any classes that day and Rosé finally decided to take a break from studying. Jisoo went out to buy groceries and some lunch for the girls, whereas Jennie was at her usual spot watching TV while Rosé was helping Lisa dye her hair in the living room.
"Tell me if I hurt you, okay?" Rosé asked as she combed through the brown dye through Lisa's hair.
"OW!" Lisa shrieked suddenly, her body jumping slightly and Rosé mirrored the action.
"What?! Don't play with me Lisa! I'm serious!" the not-so-little little blonde girl smacked Lisa after realising she was joking with her.
"Okay ouch, now you really hurt me." Lisa pouted.
"Stay still!"
"Fine, fine."
Jennie laughed at the interaction between the two girls. Sometimes she doesn't know how she could end up living with them - their loudness may be interrupting her TV sessions but it's better than the house being too quiet for her own liking. It's weird that way; she hates loud places and noises, but she doesn't mind it too much when it's with the girls. They've gotten too comfortable with each other someway, somehow.
The front door clicked open and the oldest in the house comes into view. "I'm home!" She greeted, a little too cheery. She tried placing her shoes neatly without the use of her hands which were already occupied with groceries on one and food on the other.
Jennie saw her struggling and decided to get up from her lazy position and approach the older girl to take the burden off her hands.
"Thank you, Jenjen!" Jisoo grinned, showing off her perfect straight teeth.
"Is it just me or is she like, extra smiley today?" Lisa asked from across the room. "What's got you all so smiley, Jisoo unnie?"
"What? Nothing!" Jisoo replied defensively as she went over to help Jennie put away the groceries at the kitchen.
"Did you... Did you run into Sunmi unnie?" Lisa turned around to face the oldest girl as Rosé finally lets go of her head.
"Who's Sunmi?" Rosé asked.
"Ah, finally someone who doesn't know her like I didn't. And, no! Why would you think that, Lisa?" Jisoo frowned for a while before giving away a smile she couldn't help. "Maybe."
"JINJJA?!" Lisa now had her eyes wide open and she almost crawled onto the kitchen island.
"Hey! Don't get hair dye all over the place, Lisa!" Rosé scolded her.
"Oh! Sorry, Rosie!" The tall girl apologised, choosing to stand still in front of the kitchen island instead. "Well, did you guys talk? Did she say anything about dating you?"
Jennie rolled her eyes as she opened the refrigerator to put away a carton of milk inside. "Why do you want them to date so much, Lisa?"
"Well, she didn't say anything about a date, but she did ask me to see her again later for dinner or something." Jisoo shrugged.
"What? Jisoo unnie got a date?!" Now it was Rose's turn to yell, after quietly listening to the conversation.
"Aniyaaaa it's not a date, guys!"
"IT IS!"
"PABO UNNIE, IT IS!""Yah! Only I can call you pabo!"
"So, are you going?" Jennie asked curiously, breaking up the banter between the oldest and the youngest. She was making direct eye contact with Jisoo now after all their groceries have been put away.
It may be because all the other girls' eyes were on Jisoo now, or simply because the eye contact she's having with Jennie feels more like a death glare, but her heart is beating so much faster and she doesn't know why.
"Maybe. But that's later, and now it's lunch time!" She decided to push away the topic and started grabbing the other bag on the kitchen island. "I got these food so y'all better eat up!"
"Yay! Food!"
-
Jennie was sitting on Jisoo's bed as she watched the older girl prepare to meet her "date".
"How does this look?" Jisoo asked as she showed off the floral dress she was wearing to the younger girl.
"Stunning." Jennie replied casually.
"You complimented literally every outfit I wore, I know you're just trying to get this over and done with, but I need serious help here!"
"Why do you want to go out with her anyway?" Jennie frowned.
"Honestly, I'm just going with the flow. But why shouldn't I?" Jisoo retorted.
"I don't really like her."
"Omo, were you guys close? Did you used to date her?" Jisoo feigned a gasp.
"No. You know I've never dated a girl before." Jennie rolled her eyes. "I just don't like her."
Jisoo walked over to the bed to sit next to the younger girl. She put one arm around her waist and tilted her head to look at her face.
"Do you not want me to go because you don't like her? I can do that." Jisoo smiled.
Jennie doesn't reply for awhile and kept her head low. She still doesn't really understand why she has to feel like this when she should be happy for her best friend.
"It's okay." She finally says. "You can go, I don't really care."
And with that, Jennie stood up and left the room.
