The Killer's Game

The arrest

"Nicholas Parker, we've received the warrant for your arrest".

"You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can be used against you in court. You have the right to talk to a lawyer for advice before we ask you any questions. You have the right to have a lawyer with you during questioning . If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you before any questioning. If you decide to answer questions now without a lawyer present, you have the right to stop answering at anytime"

*pish* "I've been answering questions without a lawyer present and look where that's brought me".

I looked at Liam.

"Your going to regret this. You're making a big mistake.
When the real killer shows his true colors Liam. Your next. I guarantee you, it's going to be bad. And because your snooping around, you're going to regret it!"

I slowly move towards Liam as one officer tightens the handcuffs.

"You'll be in my jail cell soon Liam,
Begging me to help you, or maybe I'll be at your grave yard, looking down at you" I whisper in his ears.

"If your still alive in jail Nick." He tells me.

"I will be. The killer your looking for, he likes to throw a lot of  innocent people in jail. You have a lot in common with him Liam. More than I could say."

Laim laughs. "Again, implying that's it's me yet your the one in handcuffs. That makes sense". He says.

The guards slowly takes me away as everyone in the office watches. Ryan runs up to me in shock. He stops in front of me, blocking the way to walk.

"Sir you need to move", one officer says.
"Wait!", Ryan says. He bunches me in the stomach then spits in my face. "That's for Brandon".

Chris looks at me and shakes his head.
"I hope you die in that jail cell you monster".

Addy doesn't look at me. Pretending I didn't exist. And Dillion watched as I walked down the hall. But from a far. Maybe I was seeing things, but It looked like a smile.

Dillion POV
I smiled at Ryan. He deserved that. To think my friend was a killer, I couldn't believe it.

Addy looks at me with tears in her eyes. She doesn't speak.  We all were hurt to watch Nick get arrested. He was apart of our team, we felt betrayed.

Liam POV ( 1:55am- Monday, October 28th)

I turned on the lights in the kitchen. It was five minutes before two. Paper work and the investigation has kept me out late. Coming home was always the best feeling. Cooked food, clean home, kids quietly sitting down watching the tv as my wife and I enjoy a little bit of peace at the dinner table. It was my favourite part of the day as we enjoy each other's company.
In the papers we were the dream couple, but I prefer to work alone.
I let her join in on the first investigation. She was good at first impression and reading people, but for the first time ever, she couldn't read any of them. She couldn't tell who was lying. We sat down with addy, Chris, Nicholas, Ryan, and Dillion. She couldn't get a read off of any of them. Her gut feeling was to not get involved and for the first time she hopped off the case with me. I didn't mind, but for her to feel that way I knew, something was very wrong with this investigation and that's why I couldn't let it go.

When I went into the kitchen dinner wasn't made. Something felt off, it was quieter than usual. It wasn't a school night for the kids, so they should be up.

I knew this case would take weeks so I brought my family with me. We rented a big fancy Air B&B for the weeks we were in town. They were being homeschooled tell we went back.
