Surprises

mom always say the strangest things like 'life is full of surprises, and that you always have to be aware of them because they come out of nowhere.' It's unusual because mom doesn't ever tell me stuff like that out of my whole 12 years of living with her. I'm at the age where I'm curious what's outside of the house, but I'm scared to go out, but I'm always drawn to look out the window and see if it is really bad as mom says it is.

I figured out how not to get mom mad, all I have to do is not ask her questions, and stay quiet when doing house chores. One time she told me to watch the house to go buy groceries and that she'll be back in 30 minutes or less. This is probably my first time in the house alone, well maybe many times when I was locked in my room but I'm not sure yet. This was my opportunity to check what's in moms room even though I know it's off limits. If she catches me I'll get yelled at, beaten for breaking her rules, and locked in my room for how many days without eating. But I have to, she might be hiding something from me, something important, something that will help me figure out who I really am, or maybe finding out who he is.

I entered moms room wondering what I'll find. I seen boxes and papers almost all over the floor, they were all on one side. I looked at the papers and skimmed through them trying to find who and where my dad is. It took me awhile but I found a photo... Of all of us. We looked happy, but the problem is, I was just a baby at the time. If I was a baby when he left, he might've changed. I turned the photo around to find our names my dads name is difficult for me to say since I'm not good with other people's names yet. I found out my last name its the same as dads, I put the photo back down and found a letter to mom saying why he left. He left her because he didn't love mom no more, before I finished reading I heard the keys on the door, I put everything back where I found them and quickly left moms room and made my way into the bathroom pretending I just got done using the bathroom and came out. Mom told me to put the food away and I did as I was told.

Later that night I went to bed after doing all the laundry, but I couldn't sleep. I just found out my last name, Isabel Daley is what the back of the photo said, and my dads name is spelled Christopher Daley, moms name is Jenny Richards. I think I'm not supposed to learn my last name till i was older. But just as mom said "life if full of surprises, but you have to be aware of them" I think mom doesn't know that I entered her room, but I have to play it safe, I was almost caught in something I wasn't supposed to do.
