The doctor pipes in cheerily, making me and everyone in the room scowl. He adjusts his glasses on his nose before tightening the bag on his shoulder, puffing his chest out before speaking.

"This is great!" He exclaims, squeezing his hands together excitedly. Before he can say another word, I've grabbed him by his coat and slammed him against the wall.

"Do you think this is funny fat man? This is everythng but funny," I seethe as my eyes shoot daggers into his small ones. He begins to squirm awkwardly but doesn't answer my question. I take this as my cue to grab him and slam him against the wall again.

"That's enough Lucy," Kit calls out quietly, obviously scared of what will happen to him.

"He had his second dose, so that bite won't affect him. And if it does, it'll help me with my experiments," I place my hand on his throat and apply pressure.

"If it does, I will kill you." Gale grabs me by my shirt and rips me off of him, allowng the Henry to breathe properly. His face subsides from red to normal and I feel my fists clench.

"Lets get going before anymore come out," Gale demands as he drags me out of the building and towards the car, everyone else helping Kit. He basically pushes me into the front seat and slams the door, obviously not wanting me in the vacinity of Henry. When he slides into the drivers seat, he turns to me.

"What the fuck was that?" I stay silent, staring at the dash. He doesn't take my ignorane fondly and begins clicking in my face like I'm a dog.

"He seemed way too cheery when my friend could be in serious trouble. Who knows if his vaccine even works, and if it doesn't, then we are all in trouble." Gale interrupts me with a small laugh.

"I don't care about any of you, I need Henry alive, understood?" I nod and proceed to look out the window while everyone piles into the car. I notice Henry with a first aid kit and I begin to feel bad for the way I treated him. He tends to Kit's injury while Gale pulls out onto the highway on the way to Tennesse.

It's dark by the time we reach Tennesse, the starts twinkling in the black sky while our highbeams reflect from the colourful street signs. We decide to pull into a service station before travelling any further. The car turns off near a pump and I quickly get out of the car, scanning quickly for a bathroom sign. When I see the arrow pointing towards one, I smile and follow it with Sarah.

She holds my weapon outside of the bathroom while I enter, wearily checking each stall for any zombies. We've decided that's the most fitting name for them. Once I'm sure it's all clear, I sit down on the cleanest seat. The dirty white tiles beneath my feet glint under the light of my torch as I observe my surroundings, reading the graffiti on the stall wall. After I finish, I leave the bathroom and go back outside to Sarah, where she smiles. I could tell she didn't want to be alone for much longer.

"Lucy! Sarah!" I hear someone yell, causing us both to flinch. We look at eachother for a brief second before dashing towards where the car was parked, skidding in our tracks at the scene.

Five to ten almost fully decomposed zombies shuffle towards the boys, cornering them in a circle.

"Shoot them!" I yell, attracting some of their attention. Sarah screams as they begin approaching us.

"If I do that it might attract some more," Gale hisses, ripping his knife out of the slot near his boot and holding it in his mouth as he reaches for his mashette. Kit struggles to clamber out of the vehicle, falling onto the concrete with a thud. I gasp and turn to rush to him, but then reconsider my actions because who would protect Sarah if I left her.

"Kit!" I decide to call out, pointing at him which results in Henry rushing towards him.

"William look out!" Sarah screams, leaving just enough time for him to spin around with his weapon and club the zombie out cold. The circle begins to tighten and others have managed to join in, leaving us around seven to twenty. We are surrounded.

"Shoot them Gale!" Cameron yells as one lunges at him, but to our dismay, he fights off successfully. Make that nineteen.

Gale begins firing into the growing crowd, particularly at the ones who are getting too close. Sarah and I join them through a hole in the crowd that Gale had made, leaving us with a better chance at beating these zombies.

I begin to hear Kit groan, catching my attention. My brows furrow together as he starts clutching his head in agony, muttering words to himself. When Henry tries to help him, Kit pushes him away before screaming at the top of his lungs.

The floor grumbles slightly but I ignore it, instead, I watch the crowd freeze before whimpering. Before anyone has time to comprehend what's happening, the zombies scatter, running back into the darkness as if they're scared of something. I quickly turn on my heel, dropping to my knees once I reach Kit. I go to wrap my arms around him, but stop, looking down at him with wide eyes.

His bite was fully healed but a large blue spider vein was left in its place, branching down his back and chest. I begin to hyperventilate when I see his entire complexion has turned grey, his eyes faded and souless.

"Kit?" I raise my hand up to his shaking body, my heart racing faster than ever before as his hair slumps down into his eyes. Just as I place my hand on his head, he blinks, his eyes going back to normal while his bite calms down.

"Kit?" I ask again, quieter this time. He looks at me, his eyes filling with tears before he breaks down in my arms.

"What's happening to me?"
