Chapter Five | The Red Coats
The snow crunched underneath my feet as I walked, next to Luca, who was in his wolf form with Leah by his side. I didn't shift into my wolf because Edward said I should stay in my human form since my gifts would do better against the Volturi then being a wolf. I wasn't exactly looking forward to this at all, but it was to protect Renesmee and possibly any children in the future.
At first, I know I did not want to help because it was not any of my business but once my son came and explained to me why I should I help. I knew I had to do it.
The respective covens broke off, standing with their family members. Bella, Edward, Renesmee and Jacob stood at the front, with Carlisle and Esme and Rosalie and Emmett at their sides. The Denali stood near them along with Garrett, while Amun and Kebi stood a bit back, the Amazon coven, The Irish Coven, The Nomads, and Vladimir and Stefan near them. I walked towards the Uley pack, standing next to Sam, arms crossed firmly over my chest, searching for any danger that I might face.
"If we live through this," Garrett spoke up. "I'll follow you anywhere, woman."
Kate snorted, though she looked pleased. "Now you tell me?"
Edward and Bella stepped closer to Renesmee and Jacob bared his teeth, ready to attack if need be. Rosalie stepped closer to Emmett, a hand on his chest. Carlisle and Esme shared a look before they looked back towards the trees. Amun took Kebi's hand, looking over at Benjamin for a moment before he looked back towards the trees.
Suddenly, Luca was rubbing his head against my hand. I looked over at Luca, the fear in his eyes made me stop in my tracks. "I won't let you die." He said, determined, his gaze set on me.
"And I won't let you die, Luca." I said as I looked away, but I made no move my hand. He tensed and I followed his line of sight, only to see the Volturi emerging from the trees.
"The red coats are coming, the red coats are coming..." Garrett chanted apprehensively. I knew that he had to be nervous, but he was trying to lighten the mood a bit, as usual.
"Aro's looking for Alice." Edward spoke up, quiet but not quiet enough for me to miss it. I looked over at Aro, only to see that it was true.
