Sheila

Zaivinth flinched before shoving me tight to him. Right enough that I was one the verge of suffocating within his wings. "Vince!" I tried to shout in distress, I wanted to band on his beautiful white wings but my arms were pinned. "Zaivinth!"

That seemed to snap whatever trance Zaivinth, he reasoned me instantly. He ducked his head into the protection of his own wings. "Are you alright, my mate?"

There was an evil chuckling. "I'll get it, that's a promise." The grey sphere of smoke disappeared into thin air.

We looked deep in each other eyes. Those electric blue eyes knew something. "What's going on?" I couldn't help but ask, I deserve to know.

"Everything right now is uncertain." He said, honest, but not the full truth.

I needed more information, "who was that?"

It startled me when all the candles on the golden chandeliers suddenly lit again, giving the windows their usual orange glow. Someone instructed the orchestra to start playing because calm music started again. I don't doubt that it was Xion. Poor guy, nothing can go right for him.

"He goes by...." he tucked his wings back to his side, allowing me a full view of the ballroom once more. There was an undeniable loud murmur of distress still plaguing the banquet.

"Kolgrim"

"Kolgrim?"

He nodded his head, he scanned the room, searching for something, anything. "You know something, don't you?" I asked wide-eyed.

"Nothing that I can prove." He glanced towards me for a moment, before going back to search.

"What do you think he wants?" I questioned, placing a reassuring hand on his thigh. I could practically see the stress radiating off him.

"Nothing I can prove." He repeated his words from before. I narrowed my eyes, he was being cryptic, why couldn't I know?

"Zaivinth." I held back the growl that was about to pour over my lips. I needed to be the calm one while he is frazzled. I needed to be the rock.

He snapped his head towards me, giving me his full attention. "I know one thing for sure. He wants war, and war is what he is going to have." He growled out, he lowered his head to me, rubbing his face against my own. He was making sure I was safe.

"Wait. You can't jump into war. We don't know what he wants. What if he just wants a family heirloom? We can't jump to any conclusions." I said frantically, I didn't like the idea of the war. The bloodshed.

"Whatever he wants, it can't be good, and I'm not going to risk giving it to him. He is evil. The root of all things evil." He grimaced his eyes narrowing as he watched the room again.

"Alright..." it didn't seem I could convince him. "So, we go to war."

"There is no we in this war. I'm, going to war." He clarified.

I gasped and took a step back, putting space between us. "What did you just say?" I hissed through my teeth. I took another step backward. How DARE he say that.

"You have no combat training."

"You don't know that."

"I don't need you there."

We both froze at his words I sucked in air through my nose, feeling as if I had been punched. "Wait I didn't mean th—" I raised his hand.

"Don't speak. I understand." I crossed my hands over my chest. I turned on my heel. Maybe I was being dramatic, but I could not let this slide. I was tired already, time for me to leave before I make this a hundred times worse.

"Mate." I could hear his claws scraping against the ground. I weave through the crowd of people, once against getting into the dancing mood. I could feel my shadows escaping from my human form, I saw them in the corner of my vision licking up at the ceiling.

"Mate." I was climbing the beautiful staircase that rounded up to the main entrance where we had entered before. I heard the flap of wings.

"Mate." He growled and landed in front of me, almost blocking my path.

Almost.

I weaved around him and was out into the hall in no time. I debating going full shadow wolf form and running into the forest. But I didn't know this forest well, I was sure to get lost. I saw the forest overhead when I was on Vince's back, it went on for forever.

"Sheila!" Zaivinth shouted, wrapping his human arms around me, trapping me in his arms. When did he shift back into human form?

I turned my head and glared at him. "Let." I gritted my teeth, "me," I hissed, "go." I placed both my hands on his human chest and pushed myself out of his grasp.

I watched as he stood there open-mouthed, gaping at what I had just done.

I was close to the large doorway into the room with the enormous tree. I pulled the door, that used to be opened, just slightly opened. I looked back at my Mate, who stood where he was, his face directed towards the ground in defeat. "I want to remind you." His head snapped upwards, his electric blue orbs meeting my own. "If we do something. We do it together. If we go somewhere. We go together."

I almost turned and almost slipped through the crack of the door. But I turned my head again, facing him one last time. "' Feel free to input your opinion on any matter, I will back you.' What a joke." I scoffed, closing the door behind me.

After closing the door I rested my back on it. My hands still holding the handle tightly. I looked up at the gigantic tree as I listened for his footsteps to get further and further away.

    He didn't follow after me.

    Good.

"Hello, dear." I hear someone hum to my right, I snapped my head in his direction. My eyes went wide as I gasped.
