—Sheila
—I heard a roar. Then I saw his wings. Then I felt him.
He slammed into at full force making me rock back and almost stumble onto my backside. One hand was placed on the back of my head, the other wrapped tightly around my waist. He instantly had his face buried into my neck.
"Sheila," his voice broke. "Sheila, gods, Sheila, it's you." He lifted his head to look at me.
The electric blues eyes sent waves down me. I felt my eyes well up again. "Zaivinth!" I wrapped my arms around him. So much had changed. So, so much.
We stayed in each others arms, taking in each other scent. We needed this. We needed a moment, just to hold each other like so.
He pulled back, looking into my eyes again. "I was so worried." He frowned, the look made me want to cry. Though I'm all cried out for the rest of the day. Maybe for the rest of my life. I probably could have filled rivers with my tears today.
"I'm sorry." I squeezed him to me. I wanted to say that I would have wrote if I could. That would be just a lousy excuse. "I have changed a lot."
He raised an eyebrow, fear growing in his eyes. "What happened? Are you hurt?" He pulled back and looked at me up and down. Looking for any bruises. If he had looked at me a day earlier he would have seen a few, though the werewolf heeling has helped me a heap.
"Ive learned." I could barely let the words get out of my mouth. What if am he didn't like that. Would I get in a fight over it. All this useless worrying. Doing you no good at all, stupid girl. Gods, I could practically hear Weni saying it.
"Learned?" He nocked his head to the side.
"I learned to be a shadow wolf."
-
We talked to hours, explaining what we had all gone through. It turns out after he had the fight it took him two weeks to heal up again, and Xion drove him crazy. I laughed and laughed, I was happy to be with my mate.
"I knew that you were safe, but that letter... I couldn't help but worry."
"Letter?" I looked at him confused. "What letter?"
"The nightstalker?" A nightstalker was a letter that took form as a morpho menelaus butterfly and shrivels up once you finish reading it. I never have revived one of those. Though, I've never received any letter at all. "The one that said that you were safe and was hurt, but healing."
"I was hurt. But I didn't send that letter."
"Who did then."
We sat in silence for a little while. "Oh my gods!" I gasped raising my hands to my lips. "It was Grandma Weni." The sound of her voice still fresh in my mind.
"Well tell her thank you next time you see her. I was going insane worrying about you." He ran a hand through his hair. "Well, lets head back."
Back? Where is back? He turned on his heels and I reached out and grabbed his hands. "Where?"
"The elven castle, about fifty mines out. We will be back in no time." He pointed north of where we are.
"I'll race you." I grinned as his eyebrows shot up. He was surly not prepared for that response. Then he returned my smile. We both turned into our beastly forms.
"See you at home."
—
He let me win. He actually let me win. I was fuming, I think that steam was coming out of my ears.
"That's not fair!" I whined as we walked up the quartz steps.
"What's not. You won fair and square." A smile was on his face, he was teasing me and I hated it.
"You went easy on me." He waited for me to catch up and I knew it.
"I'm proud of you." His face suddenly serious. "You have been working out."
I scoffed, yeah I have been working out. I sprinted that 50 miles no problem. I didn't want to talk to my mate right now. He was making me so, very, mad.
He swooped in our of nowhere and gave me a wet kiss on the cheek. "I'm just teasing you. I just wanted to make sure you got here safe." I gasped and held the cheek where he kissed it. It came so suddenly, I was only left with shock.
"Is that Zaivinth I hear?" Shouted Xion a bit deeper into the hall. We just crossed under the golden gate of the elven palace. It was about three months ago when I first crossed under here, it seems like forever ago now. "Did you get news about her? You haven't talked much after Sheila—" Xion's face rounded the corner.
"Sheila!" His face lit up with joy. "I'm glad you are back. This—" he splayed a hand out to my mate, "was about to burn my entire kingdom to a crisp after you disappeared!"
I laughed at him referring to my mate as 'This'. I looked to my mate, "is that true?"
He shrugged, "more or less."
"See? I don't know how I've dealt with someone like him after all these years." He huffed through his nose, placing his hands on his hips. Then he turned on his heels.
"This calls for a banquet! Someone call the planners!" He waved his finger above his head as if he was rallying troops.
I laughed while Vince let out a deep sigh of frustration. Then I thought back to Weni, when will I see her again. I longed for her words.
I felt a hand be placed on the bottom of my back. I looked up to my mate, who was looking down at me. "Yes?" I hummed out leaning into his touch.
"I have a meeting here tomorrow morning, the last one here for a while. I would like for you to join me there." I nodded my head, of corse I would go. "After that I have no plans until Kolgrim decides to attack again. Which means we can do whatever you want to do."
"Whatever I want to do?" I said the question back to him. I looked at the beautifully decorated white ceiling. I wanted to do so much, yet there was nothing but silence in my head.
"Hmm.." I mumbled to myself. Then I gasped I knew exactly what I wanted to do.
"I want to see your kingdom, the Land of the Dragons."
