Chapter 27: Checkmate
(ZAYNS POV)
Crap. They had us cornered. I shot a glance at Kayla, silently asking if it was ok through my eyes. She nodded a little, so I decided it was best to just come clean. "Guys..." I started with a sigh,
"Kayla and I...we really like each other," 'UNDERSTATEMENT' my head screamed, but I continued speaking,
"But we don't want to date because I'm leaving for tour again Soon. so we're...sortof...like, friends with benefits." I rushed. They lads stared at me with wide eyes, before turning to stare at Kayla. After what seemed like maybe 5 minutes of staring at her, she grinned sheepishly.
"Heh heh...hi there." she mumbled, giving a little wave. I held back a laugh at her bit of comedy, but the lads were deadpan.
"Seriously?" Harry finally broke the awkwardness.
"I mean really, guys. If you like each other, then freaking date! Lookit El, and Dani for gods sake!" He continued.
"I agree with Harry." Nialler piped.
"Same." Harry added.
"Yeah." Liam nodded.
"What? Pineapples." Louis said. That earned a glare from Liam.
"Oooh, wait, friends with benefits? No, not good. Just marry each other and live happily ever after with confetti and sprinkles. If that's what Harry said, then I agree." Louis rambled.
"Erm, okay then?" Kayla mumbled.
"I don't think that's a bad idea..." I added.
"Getting married?" Nialler asked in surprise.
"No, idiot. Just dating before we leave." I rolled my eyes.
"Oh." Niall said.
"DO IT DO IT DO IT." Louis chanted.
"Gosh, no pressure right guys?" Kayla said sarcastically. I laughed. This is one of the reasons why I love her. Wait, did I just say I loved her? Well, okay, I do.
"So, Kayla, be my officially official girlfriend?" I joked, but still completely serious.
"Of course." she said, giving me a wink and a kiss on the cheek.
"YAY!" Louis cheered.
"Shut up Lou." Kayla and I shot in unison.
