Chapter 19: Checkmate

(ZAYNS POV)

"Omigod...your pancakes are HEAVEN." I cried as I bit into one of the pancakes Kayla had made us.

"thanks." Kayla shrugged with a smile.

"YAAAYYYY pancakes! Thank you thank you thank you!" Niall cried, attacking Kayla with a gigantic bear hug. These were by far the best pancakes I'd ever tasted.

"Did you apply for a cooking class in college?" I asked her. She nodded and frowned.

"The only problem is that the teacher Is absolutely horrid." she Contorted her features to make the weirdest face. But she still managed to be gorgeous. How can you do that and still manage to be stunning? My thoughts wandered to the topic of my feelings for her...I fell deeper every day.

She had become like my best friend, always there for me when the boys were busy. I had to do something before I was friend-zoned, but I didn't know what. And to top it off, she didn't show any interest in me. Which didn't boost my confidence if I was going to confront her. I decided to push it off until a little later.

"It's the weeeeekend!" Louis shouted excitedly, bouncing around in his chair.

"Let's go somewhere awesome." Harry recommended.

"how about the amusement park a few miles that way?" Liam suggested. Everyone nodded their agreement except Kayla.

"Er, you guys can go. I really only have the money for groceries and food...I need to get a job today." she muttered.

"Nope. We will not let you. Your a Best friend now, we're paying for you. For every single thing you buy while we are here with you in college." I demanded. I wish she was more than a best friend to me...

"What? No, I can't let you pay for practically everything I do!" she protested, shaking her head vigorously.

"Well to bad. We have money to spend, so we'll spend it on our Bestest buddy." Louis decided, propping his elbow on Kayla's shoulder. Kayla sighed.

"Fine. Persistent much?" She said with a hint of a smile.
