obviam ire

Pietro wakes me up the next morning, and I notice that the sun is much higher than it was when I awoke yesterday. I squint my eyes into the sunlight and Pietro's glowing figure, his body sitting in front of the sun and making him look as though he has a golden outline. He gently plays with my hair as he wakes me up with his soothing words.

"Aveline, love, it's time for you to get up," he whispers as he still softly pets my head.

I groan lightly before turning to face into the ground and away from the light. "What time is it?" I ask instinctively, and my stomach drops when I realize what his answer is going to be.

"I don't know, Ave. Probably around nine, if I had to guess? I have no clue, though," he answers quietly, and I lift a hand up from my position on the ground. The front side of my body is now completely on the ground and my head leans on the arm I don't lift above me, and the arm extended above me reaches for Pietro. He hums in questioning at the movement.

"Cuddle me," I say, my words still plagued with sleep.

Pietro quickly obeys, moving to my side and curling into my back. We stay in this position for a little while as I drift in and out of sleep and Pietro most likely lays awake next to me. I turn to him after a little while with drooping eyes and a sluggish voice.

"Do we have to get going, or can we stay here?" I ask, and Pietro sighs.

"We have to go. We were supposed to leave around twenty minutes ago," Pietro says softly, his words tickling my neck.

I take a deep breath and nod my head, letting a small laugh escape. "They've been waiting for us, haven't they?" Pietro hums as an answer. "But you still let me lay here and do nothing even though we were supposed to leave?"

"I'm not in too much of a rush, either."

Pietro's whispers are lightly dusted with sleepiness, and I turn over to find his eyes closed. I raise my hand to his face and brush the hair that lays on his forehead out of his eyes. His eyes slowly open as I do this and a smile appears on his face. Once my hand stops traveling and rests on the side of his face, he leans forward and softly kisses my forehead.

"But we should probably get going now, моя любовь. We don't want someone to have to come looking for us," Pietro sighs, and I smile.

"I'd rather not get lectured first thing in the morning," I murmur, my body still not wanting to fully wake up. But I stand up when Pietro does, and he wraps an arm around my waist as I lean into his side.

We walk toward the fire pit and I find that not only is Bucky there, but so is Natasha and Sam. Only Steve and Peter are missing from the group, and I look up to Pietro in confusion. He knows my question without me even needing to ask, and he nods his head before he responds.

"Steve felt it was best that Peter didn't come, since he's an unknown face to Wanda. He volunteered to stay with him instead of Sam, who was going to stay. And honestly, I'm surprised that no one has picked up on Sam and Bucky. I've never seen Bucky's face light up as much as it did after Steve said he'd stay instead of Sam." I laugh at the quiet comment as we finally close the distance between us and the three surrounding the fire pit, and Sam wears a questioning look.

"What took you so long? Aren't you supposed to be fast?" Sam asks Pietro, and I let out a small laugh.

"He might be, but it takes some convincing to get me moving," I say groggily, and Bucky laughs.

"Hence us never going on early morning jogs," Bucky puts in, and I playfully roll my eyes at him.

"You're just too nervous to risk trying to get me up in the morning," I tease, and Bucky shrugs his shoulders.
