My parents weren't too excited about me leaving our family time. But I used Courtney's "family problems" as an excuse. My parents are really selfless and care for other people more than they care about theirselves. One of my many favorite things about them.

I'm now waiting in the lobby of the hospital listening to the sound of the rain hitting the glass. It's so relaxing and makes me wish it would always rain in Florida. I never really understood why I liked rain so much, but I really do. I used to enjoy the sunshine and heat when I was younger, that was all before my life turned upside down. It was so easy smiling and being genuinely happy 7 years ago. Now it takes everything in me to fake a smile. I put on act in in front of my dad to let him know his daughter is strong, but I'm not. I put on an act for my mom, letting her know everything is ok, but it's not. I put on an act for Allie, letting her know I'm here...but I'm not.

I hear a car pull up to the front door and see Shane get out of the car. The automatic door slides open, revealing his presence in the room.

"Ready." He asks while walking up to me.
"Not really" i respond but follow him out anyways.

~~~
It's been about 20 minutes since we left the hospital and neither of us said a word. No music, no AC, just silence.
"Where are you taking me" i break the silence. He just looks at me for a few seconds with a smirk on his face. A few moments later we pull up to a very expensive restaurant.
Of course he would take me to fancy restaurant wearing a sweatshirt and leggings.
We both exit the car and head for the doors, he holds the door open for me and I walk in. Yup, very fancy.
"How many?" The waiter asks, but I'm too occupied with all the chandeliers.
"Two." Shane answers, clearly realizing I won't.
"Follow me." The waiter says, and we do exactly that. They lead us to a booth all the way in the corner and set our menus down.
"Can I start you guys with some drinks" they ask. Shane gets a coke and I stick with a water. The waiter leaves us to be by ourselves, but I'm kinda wishing they didn't. It's so awkward right now.
"So." Shane says breaking the silence. I look up at him waiting for him to continue, but he doesn't.
"What." I ask in annoyance. "What do you want me to say, what do you want me to do with you" i gesture with my hand in his direction. I rub my temple, this is all so exhausting.
He's doing something with my head. Ugh.
He gives me a look as if he's amused. He holds back a laugh.
"You know what, I'm done." I start to stand up from the booth, but he grabs my wrist.
"Stay." He pleads.
"Why should i Shane? You're just going to mess with my brain even more than you are now!"
"No I won't. I won't mess with your brain, Alex. I promise. Just grab some food, I want to get to know you."
"Get to know me?" I question.
He clicks his tongue "is that so hard to believe?"
"After this morning and last night...yea" i point out. He rolls his eyes.
"I'm sorry, I really am. I don't know what came over me. I was drunk last night, and hungover the next day. That not an excuse but..."
"What about when you pushed Derrick against the lockers?"
"That doesn't count, he was being a d**k"
"I know nothing about you Shane. I think this time should be dedicated to getting to know you." I point out
"What do you wanna know" he asks. He puts his arms on the table and gives me a smirk.
Two hours later, we are finishing up our conversation, it was a lot of talking, tears, laughs, anger and frustration, but i feel as though i know Shane like the back of my hand. He opened about what he does for work, and surprisingly I wasn't scared. He said he works for a guy that has him do intense things, like what he did to derrick yesterday. Obviously, because of that I'm going to be more careful with this guy. But when i asked him about his home life, he turned soft. He told me a little about his dad, but barley. His mom though, sounds like an angel, his eyes glistened when he talked about her. He showed me the cursive tattoo below his shoulder of her name, Leah. I then asked him about what he enjoys, what his childhood looked like, etc. it's obvious why he's damaged...its because of the male figures in his life. He isn't capable of being a good guy because none of them demonstrated that to him. He was never shown, which is what i will work on with him. I will show him what to do, how to treat women and other guys. It's what he deserves.
