I go with a simple white shirt tucked into black ripped jeans. I realize it might be chilly tonight and so i grab a leather jacket at the last minute. I text Courtney my address and she says she's on the way.

10 minutes past and Courtney texts me, letting me know she's here. I grab my phone and head out.
"Don't you look cute Alex!" She says "Very simple. I like it."
She's wearing a black bra-let under a army green crop top with ripped black jeans. I could never wear a crop top. One, because my dad is protective over that kind of stuff, and two, because I don't think I have the body for it. I think I'm what society calls skinny, but I have no idea.
"Thank you, I like your outfit as well."
"Really? It isn't to much?" She asks
"Well, if this party is what I see in movies, than you will be covered up" I smile at her. She giggles and turns on the radio, "Paris" by The Chainsmokers come on.
"Woah, I love this song" She says
"The Chainsmokers are really good." I reply

I'm starting to get nervous as we pull up to a house with cars all around. And I was right. People are not wearing much clothes. Courtney and I might be the only one even wearing jeans. When we walk inside there's loud music. I mean, very loud. There are people all around, playing games, drinking out of plastic red cups and dancing. Typical high school party. They don't always end up good. That's when I see Shane. He is leaning against the wall with a red cup in he's hand, talking with I assume his friends. They all look the same. Wearing all black, and intimidating. Why are they even here? I mean, I know it's a school party, but they don't seem like the people to "socialize". They kind of seem like the people who would be under a bridge at midnight, drinking and smoking pot.

To snap me back into reality, Courtney grabs my arm and brings me to the kitchen, and there, Derick is leaning  on the counter with his elbows.
"Hey Derick, this is my friend Alex." Courtney says
As he turns to face me, he has a huge bruise on his cheek.
"Hey Alex, I'm Derick, your new here right?" He asks.
"Uh, ya" I simply reply
"You want a drink?"
"Oh. No, I don't drink."
"Not even water?" He smirks
I smile
"Ya, I'll have a water."
As he gets me a cup of water, Courtney winks at me, causing me to blush. I don't know how I feel about this.
I totally regret these next words about to come out of my mouth
"Why did Shane punch you" I ask
Clearly caught of guard, he ask "What?"
"Oh."
"Shane? He can be an a**."
Courtney huffs
"A little more than that." She says
"Did you do anything to trigger him being so rude?"
"Geez, your very curious." He smirks
"Ya, I guess. Sorry, I shouldn't be asking this stuff." I say
"It's ok. I just don't know if your ready for the answers." He says.
What's that suppose to mean?
"Oh."
"Well, I have some people I want you to meet Alex." Derick says
He grabs my hand with his, and immediately, I begin to have butterflies in my stomach. I don't why, but their there. When I look back, Courtney begins to follow, and because she is, I'm relieved.

Derick takes me outside to a group of kids around a fire pit. I soon realize I recognize two of the guys. They were the ones who pulled Shane off Derick this morning. I guess they weren't Shanes friend
"Guys, this is Alex, Courtney's friend." He says
I get a few smiles from the group. When I think the butterflies are gone, Derick puts his arm around my shoulder and keeps them there while he takes a sip of his beverage.

Thirty minutes pass, and by now, I've grown to know the group pretty well. They're not very interested in my family or past, just me, and I'm grateful for that. By now I've been sitting with Derick on my left and Courtney on my right. When the nerves start to go away, I see Shane and a few of his friends come out into the backyard. As they walk up, my heart starts to race. I don't want anyone to get hurt. I'm tired of seeing the people I love the most get hurt. That's when Shane comes over to me and kneels down to my seat. Derick is tense and Courtney is terrified. Me? Not really. Because he is talking to me, and not anyone else.
"Your Alex right." Shane says calmly
"Ya. Why?" I say
"Can I talk with you?" Shane says

I hesitate at first, but why? He just wants to talk.
"Sure"
As I'm standing up, Derick grabs my arm, making me look back at him.
"Alex, you shouldn't go with him."
"Why shouldn't she Derick?" Shane says in annoyance
"He's not what you think." Derick says
What does he mean?
Shane huffs
"Are you coming" Shane says.
"I'll be back, it's okay." I say
Derick sighs
As I begin walking inside Shane puts his hand on my back guiding me upstairs
Why did I agree to go with him?
When we reach up the stairs he guides me into a room.
I start becoming a little worried, people don't know where I am, and I don't know what he's capable of
"What are we doing" I say as he shuts the door behind him, luckily he doesn't lock it.
"We need to talk"
"About what?"
"What has Derick and Courtney said to you." He asks as he leans against the wall closest to the door
"Why do you care?"
"If I didn't, I wouldn't  have asked you."
I stay quite
"You know what I'm capable of, so why are you staying quite?" He says annoyed
"I don't know what your capable actually."
"What have they been telling you?"
"Rumors"
Shane huffs
"THE rumors, I'm sure. Derick really can't keep things to himself." He says to himself.
I watch him as he examines me. I can't tell the expression he has on his face, but I know what he sees on my face. Confusion.
"You don't even know if the rumors are true, yet your still scared. Aren't you?" He asks as he slowly walks tords me.
"I'm not scared of you." I say honestly
"But your scared to what I can do. To your friends. Or you family."
I wince at the mention of my family.
"What were the rumors."
I sigh
"You get paid to hurt people, along with doing unspeakable things to girls."
"You mean f*** them?"
I'm a little thrown off by his words. I'm just so used to having to be "clean" around my family.
"Yea" I say and look away from him, finally realizing we're in a bedroom, with a bench next to the window, so I choose to look there.
" I don't f*** girls for money. That's way low."
I decided to look back at him, even though he's really close to me now.
"And beating up guys aren't?" I say
A few seconds past and he doesn't answer, he's just looking at me. It's kinda awkward, making me want to move away from him, but I can't. My feet won't move to the other side of the room, or even back to Courtney and Derick. Im stuck. Stuck staring at him again.

What's with me and staring at people? I start to slowly back up, but he keeps getting closer.

"Why are you backing away from me, Alex" he says seductively. Goosebumps form on my arms.
"Because you are getting to close" as a cue, my heal hit the foot of the bed, causing me to fall back on to the bed. Shane chuckles.
"What do you think I'm capable of Alex?" He asks with his arms folded. This gives me the opportunity to notice his complexion, the tattoos on one of his arm. The way his muscles flex, how his shirt is too small for them. I lower my head to focus on my hands in my lap.
"I know who you are" i whisper.
"And who is that?"
"Your just like him"
"Like who, Alex?"
"Why do you keep saying my name?" I ask in annoyance.
"Well thats your name, isn't? That's what your parents call you, thats what your sister calls you."
"Enough!" I shout. I finally stand my ground, i push him away with everything I have and head for the door.
"Wait" he calls.
I turn my head waiting for him to give me an answer.
"Don't mention anything that happened in here to anyone. If you do, I might just have to pay your family a visit."
I quickly leave the room and find the nearest bathroom.

What the hell was all that about?!

My heart is racing so fast right now, i might just faint. I finally find the bathroom down the hall. A tear finally escapes my right eye, but i quickly wipe it away.

Shane hunter, you can't get to me.
