Am I overreacting? This surely, can't be normal. Sure, public schools can't be the best influence, however they shouldn't have kids in gangs!

My last school I was in was bad. I was pushed in the wrong group. The group that did drugs, drinking under age and sexual content that both of my parents didn't agree with. I was being a bad example tords my little sister. That's why I left. Not only was I being a bad example to my sister, but there was a guy who I was dating who was abusive. Even thinking about him makes me want to vomit.

He would give me death threats if I didn't treat him the way he wanted. It sucked. I didn't know what else to do, except go to my dad. He got the police involved right away, and I haven't seen Carson since. I'm not someone who likes to lean on people for help, I'm very independent, and that's how I tend to keep it.

As the bell rings, I realize I'm still hovering over the sink in the girls bathroom, staring at my reflection.
I snap back into reality and head to my next class...History.

As I'm on my way to class, I remember that Courtney said she didn't have history next, so I'm alone.

At this very moment, I wished I wasn't. "Sorry" I say hastily as I bumped into someone. Of course my book fall onto the floor. As I bend down to pick them up, I take a quick glance at the person I bumped into...

Shane

Oh no. I gather my books as fast as I possibly can. I immediately begin walking away but I feel a hand grip my arm just above my elbow to pull me back. I'm not scared of him, just to what he can do.

"You forgot this." He hands me a pen.
"Thanks" I say. I somehow find he's eyes. It's not what I was expecting. You know when you were a kid and you would think a "bad guy" had like red eyes or something? Maybe just me, but Shane certainly didn't have red eyes. He has nice, beautiful ocean eyes. I feel like I've been staring into his eyes for awhile, until he slowly started walking backwards, then turns around and walks away.

What...just...happened...

Oh my gosh, I'm late to class. I start walking as fast as possible to my next class, hoping I won't be in to much trouble.

Luckily I wasn't. They gave me sympathy because I'm "the new girl".

After Biology, History and Algebra it's time for lunch. I met Courtney at my locker and we walk together. Hopefully I won't run into other guy and stare into his eyes creepily.

I'm getting to know Courtney pretty well. I'm finding out she has twin brothers who are ten. And her dad is a lawyer, leaving her mom as a stay at home mother. She tends to follow in her fathers footsteps in the future.

"What about you? What do you want to be?"
"To be determined" I smirk at her, causing her to laugh.
"Ha! We're a good match!" She says
"Ya, I never really thought of what I want to be. I just go with the flow I guess." I say
"Well, I respect your answer." She smiles at me.

We continue to have light talk the whole lunch hour until my next class. This time, she's with me.

Chemistry. We take the second row closes to the side. As I think everyone has entered the room, that's when I'm proven wrong. When Shane walks in. I make eye contact with him, before he walks behind me. Then I hear the chair behind me pull out. Great.

This guy is intimidating, not in a "creepy" way, just, a weird way? I don't know how I feel about this guys.

Class went smoothly, thank god! As well as the rest of the school day. As I'm heading out the doors out of school, Courtney catches up with me
"There's an end of semester party tonight. You should come! Get to know people." Courtney asks
"Oh. Uh, party's aren't really my thing"
"Apparently, nothing is your thing." She playfully mocks me
"Really, you should come. It's fun. It's at Dericks friends house."
"I don't know how my dad would feel about that." I reply
"What about your mom?" She asks
Thats when I start to get anxious. I don't want people to know about my mom. The rest of my moms life is for me and my family, no one else needs to know.
"Could you give me a ride?" I turn the question around.
"Ya of course!"
"Thanks"
"No problem! Just send my your address and I'll be there at seven." She smiles at me, then walks away.

As I walk a little farther I see my dads car. When I open the door, both Allie and my dad yell
"How was your first day of school!!"
"Not as extravagant as that greeting" I smile at them, causing both of them to laugh.
"What's this song?" Allie asks as the radio switches to a new song.
"How to save a life by the fray. I like this one." I say
"Sounds depressing." She simply reply
Causing me to spit the water out that I just put in my mouth.
"ALEX!" My dad yells in a playful way.
And now, everyone is laughing.

When we get home, I start my homework immediately. I don't like to procrastinate on this type of stuff. However, I enjoy doing this stuff with music, so I plug my earbuds and my phone and press "shuffle" immediately, LANY comes on.

When I'm done with my homework I head downstairs to let my dad know my plans for the evening.
"Hey sweetie, i was just about to take Allie to a friends house. Do you need a ride anywhere tonight?" My dad asks while he finishes up the dishes.
"No thanks, but i gotta question for you." I reply while fetching a water bottle from the fridge.
"Uh oh." Dad says. He shuts off the water and drys his hands with the dish towel by him.
"Are your views on high school parties still the same?"
"Well of course they are Alex, kids do irresponsible thing at those all of the time. If its not beer pong one moment, its having a girl in one room do-"
"Dad dad dad" i respond holding my hand up, signaling him to stop. He chuckles.
"Why are you asking this Alex? Is there another high school party?" He leans against the counter with his arms crossed. He is trying to act stern, but he was never the parent to always say no, that was moms job.
"Yes, and I really want to go dad. My friend i made today invited me,and i promise not to do anything illegal. I will be home at a reasonable time, i swear" i plead.
He sighs "Oh alright"
I clap my head in a giddy way and hug him "Thank you dad, you wont regret this"
"Oh i hope not. But i swear if you come home pregnant I wi-"
"Not gonna happen dad, I promise" i reply while heading back upstairs.

Now to start the appearance.
