I flinched at the sound of a locker slamming. Why was everyone so loud today? It was getting on my nerves. I glanced towards the source of the noise, although I immediately wished I hadn't. There was a group of boys huddled around the locker, laughing and pushing something in. Or someone.
I hesitated with my books, watching in fear. I could try and get a closer look, but that might put me in danger. I was kinda surprised I hadn't already registered on their radars yet.
I heard a loud cry over the noise of the boys, and I started moving before my brain could realize the stupid decision. I marched right up to them, stomping my feet loudly. It might scare them a little, I don't know. A few curious heads turned to me as I stopped. "Leave him alone!"
I hadn't meant to scream, but the sound rose over everything in the hall. Everyone stopped, and my eyes caught the one who was causing all this.
"Did you say something to me?" Nelson asked, and I saw his grip tighten on the small boy struggling against him. Nelson was built like a truck, being 6'2 and weighing in at about enough to crush me under his foot.
I gulped down the frog in my throat and nodded. "L-leave him alone." I was gonna suffer for this, but at least the freshman might get out of it okay.
Nelson dropped the boy, who immediately scrambled away to safety. So much for any help from him. Where on Earth were the teachers? Nelson took a threatening step towards me and I stumbled back. Right into the arms of his friends. I felt two strong pairs of arms wrap around me, and then I was off the ground. "His locker is down here!" No no no.
I kicked and pulled and scratched, but it was pointless. This is why I stay out of things. I heard my locker door hit the one next to it and I rolled my eyes at how stupid I was. Of course I left it open. I stretched my arms and legs out as best as I could and managed to catch it on the door frame, although it didn't feel too good.
"Get in there already!" I heard Nelson groan out in frustration, and then his hand was pushing against my face. Being the genius that I am, I went with the logical thing to do. "Fuck!" He cried out, pulling away his bleeding hand. I smiled at my handiwork. He tasted like shit, but at least he was suffering in his own way.
He glared at me so harshly that I flinched, and then I let out a painful breath as he used his good hand to punch my side. My grip slipped and they shoved me inside, leaving me a curled up mess on the floor.
I looked up just in time to see the door slam, missing my nose by centimeters. I could hear them cheering as they walked away, and I shifted around uncomfortably. Lockers weren't exactly made for people to fit into, but I still had the advantage of being small. I reached above me and felt around in the dark for the upper shelves.
Once I found what I was looking for, I pulled the small device down to me, pressing the button on top. Immediately a flashing red light started blinking at the tip, and I sighed, laying my head back against the wall of the locker. I might as well get comfortable.

I only had to wait for about ten minutes before I heard the quiet knock on the locker. "Babe? Are you in there?" It was a gentle whisper, and I knew she was upset. I knocked softly on the door, and I heard her sigh. The locking thing made it's noises and then the door opened. I had to blink away the sudden brightness, but a shadow quickly replaced it.
Mónica crouched down in front of me, carefully untangling me from the bundle I'd curled into. "How do you always manage to do these things to yourself, mi amor?" Her accent was barely there, but it was sweet and adorable.
"I don't try to." I mumbled, and I regretted it from the hurt look that crossed her face. "I'm sorry." I hated how all I could do was mumble. But I always felt so small after she swooped in to save me.
She pressed a soft kiss to my forehead and took the red light from me. It was a steady stream of light now, not flashing at all. She pressed her own matching light to it, and they both shut off. A neat toy. If one of us turned it on, the other would buzz and the lights would turn on. They would blink faster as they got closer, and the only way to turn them off was to touch them together. My own little panic button. Funnily enough, she'd never had to use hers.
I looked up into her hazel eyes, a slight heat building in my cheeks. "T-thank you Mami." I could never get the accent right, but she always seemed happy with me trying.
Her eyes smiled, the beautiful color as mesmerizing as caramel. "Anytime mi sol. Now come on. You need to be in class."
I couldn't help the pout I developed. "Please can we go home instead? I'll work really really hard on my spanish!"
She sighed and kissed my forehead again. "No. You need to be in school. You've already missed enough." I didn't want to argue. She was right.
I sighed again and looked up hopefully. "C-could you walk me to class?"
She smiled, and it could melt the heart of an iceberg. It was that bright. "Of course." She waited while I gathered my books up and then wrapped her arm gently around my waist. She always treated me with a nervous softness, like I was something breakable. I mean, I was, but it was hard not to notice just how gentle she treated me.
I layed my head on her arm as we walked, enjoying the warmth. I couldn't help but glance at our arms, comparing. I was pale enough already, but compared to her dark skin I looked like porcelain. It was always so mesmerizing to me. Just like everything else about her. "You look all dreamy mi perrito. Something on your mind?"
I blushed, both from being called a puppy and because she'd caught me staring. "Y-you're just so beautiful," I managed after a few seconds.
She laughed lightly and turned me to face her. "There will be plenty of time to stare at me later, baby. Go to class." She pressed a quick kiss to my lips and walked away, leaving me flustered. It was hard to break my eyes away from her as she walked away.
Her black hair cascaded in waves past her shoulders, her long legs that looked smoother than silk, and hips that could make any girl in the school kill for. I tried not to stare at her butt. It was curvy in all the right places, and I knew from personal experience that it was softer than the softest cushion on Earth.
She looked over her shoulder at me, then winked and shook her butt a little. Enough to make it jiggle as she rounded the corner. I knew my face was a red mess as I turned towards my classroom door, so I took a few minutes to shake my head clear. It didn't really work, but I calmed my blush to more manageable levels. It would have to do. I bit my lip and opened the door.
