Chapter 6
It's A Promise

"MOMMA!" Raven cried standing on the kitchen floor. The lights were off and it was dark only the open fridge lighting the floor beneath her. Broken glass covered the floor cutting her feet. She looked around the empty house but no one came.

"Raven...Raven" Kori waved her hand in front of Raven's face. "Why are you so out of it? something did happen yesterday at your dad's!." Kori spoke in a soft voice so the class wouldn't overhear.

Kori was right, something did happen. How was she suppose to tell Kori she made a deal with her father to leave school and everything once she graduated? How could she tell her she agreed to that to stay in school, and that if she didn't she'd never see Kori again? No matter how she saw it leaving everything behind and going someplace far away was better than having Kori taken away from her forever. She knew better than anyone that having the pain of someone you care about leave never truly goes away. And because of all those thoughts, Raven found her self daydreaming of the past often.

"Nothing happened" Raven gave a small smile hoping she would drop the conversation.

Kori crossed her arms "I don't believe it. You can't sit there and tell me that your dad did absolutely nothing after what happened yesterday. Plus you have been out of it since you came back. Something is bothering you and im gonna find out." Kori was very determined.

"Its nothing I swear, I would tell you if something happened you know that." Raven wanted this topic and conversation to disappear.

"Then why are you hiding something from me? I know that's not the truth." Kori looked Raven in the eyes.

Raven sighed and slumped in her chair "My dad says that I have to stop getting involved with Gar, or more like demanded it. If I don't he's going to make me quit school and come back to the house." Raven said softly. It wasn't a lie but it wasn't the whole truth either. "I have no idea how I'm supposed to get that person to leave me alone, she looked to the front of the class to where Gar was sitting. "I have no idea what to do" she looked at Kori desperately. "I don't want to leave school or my job, I like the way my life is right now. I never asked for a Logan to come into it."

Kori sighed and faced towards the front of the class "ah, so that's what happened." she said to herself hanging her head. "I thought it would be something worse, I'm glad he didn't do something more extreme." she smiled to herself.

Raven also smiled "I guess" she laughed. "Now I just have to find a way to get Gar out of my life"

Kori raised her head looking at Raven. Her voice sounded disappointed. "Raven?" Kori furrowed her brows. "you sound as if its a sad thing. Are you upset about it?' she asked curiously.

Raven shook her head "No" she smiled. "I told you I dont like him and I've been trying to get him to leave me alone from the start." she got mad thinking about the trouble he'd caused her up until now.

"Then what is it?" Kori glanced down at Gar who was laughing away with Richard without a care in the world.

"It seems my life has become more problematic and noisy since he started bothering me. I was just thinking about what it's going to be like going back to my quiet life that im use to." Raven rested her head on her hand.

"Raven," Raven woke to the sound of her name being called. She sat up rubbing her eyes. Her small dark room only lit by the moonlight. "Get up sweetie"
