hi! welcome to my new story. this is a magcon fanfic, may not look that way right now but it is. here's the first chapter and i hope you enjoy!
chapter one
a.j.
"a.j., please read the passage out to the class," my english teacher, mrs. white, said. i looked down at my book, trying to follow the sentences, but everything looked jumbled and out of place. "and from...santa's grasp...lit over spilled, and the-the...f-f...ferrari eyes before him turned cold-" i started. "stop, just...read what's on the page." mrs. white sighed frustratedly. i looked down at the passage and tried again. i messed up. by this time, the class had been snickering. i blushed hard, and my eyes filled with pools of tears. mrs. white called on natasha to read the passage. "and from satan's grasp oliver slipped, and the fiery eyes before him turned cold. as the eyes stared into his soul he froze, never to be warm again. but of course, this was only a dream, so he could do whatever he wanted." she read it with ease and no frustration, and of that i was envious.
after class, i had lunch with my best friend berkley. berkley and i have been best friends for as long as we could remember. "hiya a.j.!" she smiled. "hey berkley, how was algebra 2?" i asked, shoving my books in my locker. "it was alright i guess, got a c+ on my test." "that's not bad--" "well, well, well... if it isn't dumbelina and dumberella," a voice sneered. the two of us turned and faced the one, and only, taylor caniff.
taylor caniff: asshole, douche, cocky and arrogant all rolled into one package. he's popular because over the summer, he joined vine and was on this tour called magcon. anyways..."hey! i'm talking to you!" taylor snapped in front of my face. i remembered that my best friend and i were facing him right now. "u-um, hi taylor..." berkley, aka dumbelina, said. taylor rolled his eyes. "you guys should be in 2nd grade the way that you read, just an fyi. did you know that this is private school, where people go if they're smart? there must've been some mistake in the system." taylor smirked. natasha came up behind taylor and hugged him. "ready to eat babe?" she whispered, and after a nod from taylor, the two of them walked off to the cafeteria.
if you hadn't picked up, berkley and i both have a disability--dyslexia. we both get letters confused and mixed around. it's extremely frustrating, especially when reading. my eyes were concentrated on the ground, staring at my simple brown boots. berkley adjusted her flower crown and lightly grabbed my hand. "c'mon a.j. don't worry about 'im. he's irrelevant." i laughed. this is why we're friends.
berkley
sometimes i can't help but wonder if I would be treated differently if i wasn't dyslexic. would caniff still bully me? would teachers be less pitiful for a.j. and me? would i be treated normally? the answers to those is uncertain. a.j. and i walked into the the cafeteria aka hell's kitchen, just to find a group of girls who looked like they were waiting for something.
the only thing i was afraid of, was who they were waiting for.
