Dates and Promises

My day is normal. It's Thursday, October 1st, 2019. I ate my breakfast in silence. Mom went to work and Nima, my 16 year old sister, is at school already. I am in my first period. Then I go to my second, then third, and so on. The bell that "dismisses us" finally rings. I pack up quite quickly and rush to my locker. I put my books in my backpack and the binders that I need as well. I shut my locker and pick up my foot to walk away, but a new face stops me. Okay, startles me.

"Jesus! I didn't see you there. Did you need something?" I take in the newbie's face. He's cute. Green eyes, brown hair that swoops to the side, and freckles that sprinkle across the bridge of his nose. He's wearing black ripped jeans and a plain dark grey T-shirt. A silver chain dangles from his neck. A black beanie rests on top of his head. Hm. I'm getting e-boy vibes. Anyone else?

"Yeah, I did. Your name. I'm Tyson." He smiles. His canine teeth are more pointed than normal. Okay, so an e-boy vampire. I can work with that.

"I'm Haylee. Nice to meet you." I grin.

"Lovely name for a lovely girl." I giggle.

"Wow, smooth pick up line. I haven't seen you around. Are you new?"

"No, just in a different class. With completely different classes. That don't overlap. At all." He chuckles.

"Oh, okay. So, anything else I can for ya?"

"Go on a date with me?" He sticks his hands in his pockets and shrugs. I blink a few times.

"What?"

"Yeah. I've had my eye on you for a while. I just never really had the guts to ask."

"Oh, well! Um..." I think about it for a moment. He's cute, but I need to know him more in order to go out on a date. "I think I'll pass this time. But I'll see you around, yeah?" I start to walk away, but an arm stops me.

"No, you won't. Because you will go out on a date with me or else your friends get it." He gestures to Dya and Kit, my two best friends. I understand what he means. He'll bully them. I don't want them to experience what I did. That's why I say-

"Fine. I'll go out with you."

"Sweet." He leans toward my ear. "I'll pick up tonight at 7:30." He walks away. I look across the hallway just in time to see the back of certain boy walk away. Devon? Wonder what he wanted. Eh, I'll just see him tomorrow.

7:00 PM, later that day

"What am I going to wear?!" I shriek as I look through my closet for a third time, clutching my towel close to my chest. "I literally have nothing cute! Ugh!" Okay, that's overdramatizing things. I do have really cute clothing, I'm just trying to find something new and trendy and I can't find it because I'm rushing.

"What's with all the yelling, sis?" I turn around to find Nima leaning against my doorway. She's wearing an oversized hoodie and leggings. Yeah, she's been in that depressed clothing stage. I'm trying to fix her. Or help her. It's a work in progress.

"Didn't you hear me? I can't find anything to wear for my date!"

"Okay, chill. Who's it with?"

"Tyson."

"Mm, never heard that name. Okay, well. You have plenty of cute clothes. Let's see." I'll admit, Nima always had good taste in fashion. It kind of disappeared once Dad left, but I'm slowly getting her back into it. I think it's working.

"No, too classy. Too hipster. Too outdoorsy. Wayy too showy. Ah! Perfect!" Nima holds out a cold shoulder black dress.
