Chapter 6: On Shifter Watch

It had been another 4 weeks and business was extremely slow it was the start of winter and most humans and every other creature was slowing down.

I wore a simple dark green shirt and black skinny jeans my black vans and my hat. Throughly out this stupid week I was heavily guarded by Anna. She wouldn't leave me alone even entering the bathroom with me.

I groaned as she walked beside me protectively. She may have lied with a bunch of druggies but I didn't care. That was her down time,she wanted to work with the NetherRealm once she started a small life in the Human world.

"I don't understand why you in such a worthless club." Anna sighed angrily at me. We had just gotten into an annoying but down played debate.

"I am because I am." I shrugged. "It's because I wasn't good enough wasn't it?" She asked. I shook my head. "No I have only just been recruited for a year,I'm new and the Council had given me 'legal guardians.'" I did air qoutes.

Anna groaned. "You have a scar on your face Jax! They could kill you!" Anna cried out loudly.

I looked at her furious. "I don't mention your nightly life smoking away the witch essence!" I laugh bitterly. "The least you could do is be happy I have a pack, unlike you who belongs to no one!" I yelled.

My eyes widened when I had said that. Anna had tears streaming down her face. I remember all those times when the council couldn't even classify her gift,she had no family to be given to and no one accepted her but Black Bear which just watched over the drug house.

"I'm so so sorry Bells." I said softly. "It's fine mutt..." Anna sighed shakily. I grabbed her wrist gently pulling her into a hug. "I'll try to be careful but that can't really change anything other than that things are only slowed down and the dangers are going to get worse me being new I haven't seen anything yet." I sighed into her.

"I love you Jax." Anna sighed lovingly. I nodded my head. "Yea...I know." She pinched my side making me yelp from the sudden tickling sensation.

We walked through the yard of the high school. My hands in my pockets. I stopped sniffing the air. Anna looked at me I nodded. We turned around to see a large group of Vipers.

"Woah...." I breathed out. They all are their colors. "Yea...for awhile they've been taking over the school,big number huh." Anna said eyes wide.

I nodded slowly. "I don't think their here to fuck around with us." I help her sit down. She hesitantly does so as the group glares at me. "Your the only one...of the Lyres." Anna sighed.

"They want me out." I nodded. "It still isn't their territory if I'm here." I groaned running a hand through my hair narrowing my eyes as the group dispersed.

"Hell hounds are problems." Anna spat. "You can say that again." "Hell hounds are problems." Anna spat again. I laughed lightly punching her arm. We sat under the tree looking at the school.

It was covered with trash and graffiti on some spots. Few cars and the fields for the sports players were just as bad.

Their was few who were smoking. Surrounding the high school was several homely shops and barbers. I let out some hot breath I didn't realize I was holding.

"You alright?" Anna asked me looking at me. I sighed nodding my head standing and grabbing my small black backpack.

"I just,I can handle myself." I groaned. Anna nodded. "Everyone thinks I can't now,because I let the Vipers do what that wanted." I tried to explain. "Did you have a death wish?" Anna asked seriously. I shrugged. "Not really sure,I knew I would get help because I saw the glamour field surround the class room." I shifted the backpack on my shoulders before continuing into the school...
