Yesterday is magical. All of my friends are there. My whole family is there. Hayes is there also and I ignored him as much as I could but I can’t, my heart is looking for him. I can’t like him because he bullies me. I can’t like him because he has a girlfriend. I can’t like him because he’s off limits. Shut up, Mind!
The school bell rings and I get up from my seat. I go to my locker and walk to the cafeteria. I spot Shawn and walk towards him. “Hey, Shawn”
He smiles and hugs me. “Hungry?”
“Nah, I’m good” I say and sit beside Brandon. I pull out my ‘Looking For Alaska’ book from my bag and read it. As I try to focus deep in the story, I hear everybody gasping and murmuring. Can’t I read in peace?
Guitar strums fills the whole room. Every teenage girl is squealing, like damn!
Crowded hallways are the loneliest places
For outcasts and rebels

I turn around and my jaw drop. “Jacob?” He flashes me a smile as he strums his guitar and sings.

Hayes walks from behind Jacob and smile at me. Me? I look around and Paige is there behind me. Phew! I thought it was me. But why is Paige so pissed? Hayes is grinning as he walks towards Paige holding a pink rose. Paige is so lucky. Having Hayes to give her a pink rose (my favorite kind of rose though).

“Michelle?” Hayes say and my eyes widen. Oh, I’m blocking him towards Paige. I get it!
“Oh! Sorry!” I say and take three steps to the right. Hayes chuckles and I give him thumbs up.
“Why’d you move away?” He asks and I shrug. What is he talking about?
“I’m blocking the way…?”
“Silly” He says and holds my hand. “Michelle Anne, would you like to go to the Christmas ball with me?”
“Bitch” I hear Paige say and she walks out.
“Are you kidding me?” I ask and he frowns.
“Of course not” He defends and I look at him.
“… Sure” He hugs me and I slowly hug back. I see Shawn with a scowl plastered on his face. I wonder why?
“By the way for you” He says as we pull away.
