Unedited* point out the mistake
pweeze comment and vote🙏🏻😔She stared at her brother whose's forehead creased and his jaw tightened.
"Ayla?"
"I was just checking on him."
"Like that?" He pointed at her outfit. "Are you out of your mind? Do you even know where we are?"
"I clearly know where I am, but you seem to forget this is my personal matter. I know exactly what am I doing? Have a little faith." She hoped he did but it was high of her to say when she had walked out of a man's room with bed hair.
"I have enough faith in you, but this still doesn't make it okay?"
"I'm not answerable to you."
"I'm your brother."
"You haven't been my brother for the last eleven years." The moment those words left her lips she realized what she had done. His step faltered back as if her words had physically hit him. They may as well have been. "I'm sorry."
"No, I'm sorry." He staggered back and left.
The more she tried to mend, the more she was falling apart. The only thing she seemed to be doing was hurting herself and those around her. She hung her head low and went back to her room. Sleep was far away as she hurt the one person who loved her like no other.
"Why did I even come here?" She put her head on the pillow as she whispered.

"Asfi?" She asked her husband as he fell back on the bed. "What happened? You were supposed to go to the mosque?" She rubbed her eyes as she turned around.
He removed the back of his hand from his eyes and looked at her. Her forehead creased as he told her what happened. She sat up, sighing as he closed his eyes in pain.
"What she said to you is not okay," she brushed his hair away calmly. " but what you did to her was awful and repulsive. And I didn't expect that from you." His eyes shot open at her and he stared at her, sullen.
"What do you mean? She stayed in his room all night and that's not okay."
"I understand she is your sister, you have immense respect for her and you're really protective of her. Seeing her like that is probably making you angry and rightfully so according to our societal standards. But you broke those norms long ago for yourself," she traced the ink on his skin right below his collarbone. "And for me." She took his hand and made him trace the scars on her wrists. "So I need you to do the same for your sister."
"You can't have double standards for yourself and for her. I've spent many days at your place and even some nights sleeping on your sofa. You and I know that we didn't do any wrong or crossed limits but people don't know that. You still didn't have any problem with that. So I need you to give that exact same space and respect to your sister."
"She's old enough to know where her boundaries are and where her personal life starts and ends. You need to give her the respect to exercise that. Whatever happened between Zach and her, that's her personal matter. Even you as her brother can't question her for that. So treat her like your sister, not someone who needs to hold up societal rules for you just because she is your sister. And I know you're not like that because what you have done for me and how you stood up for me so don't let yourself be blinded by societal ideals."
He closed his eyes, realizing his mistake. The fact that it was so easier for him to forgive his own sins, but seeing his sister merely like that made him react in such a brute way was a shattering realization.
