Months later, Simba grew into a playful Litleo. This variant of Litleo has more tufts of fur in a scarlet red color and amber eyes.
One day, he woke early before the sunrise and walked excitedly to the edge of the Pride Rock. He was excited for his another day with his father. He ran back to the den to wake his sleeping father up.
"Dad, you awake?" he asked, "Dad, come on! Dad! Dad! Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad, Dad!"
Sarabi, Simba's mother and Mufasa's mate, spoke sleepily over Simba's endless noise of "Dad"s.
Sarabi's fur were in a lighter shade, she has a darker red-orange mane and unlike other Pyroar who had blue eyes, she has amber eyes.
"Your son...is awake." she said.
"Before sunrise, he's your son." said Mufasa sleepily.
"Dad, come on! Let's go! You said I could patrol with you today." said Simba.
"Okay, I'm up." said Mufasa as he woke up, following his loud yawn. Simba rubbed up against the awoken Sarabi and she nudged him ahead.
"Okay, dad. So, what's first? Give orders for the hunt? Chase away evil intruders?" he asked excitedly with numerous questions.
"Just follow me." chuckled Mufasa and they walked towards the peak of the Pride Rock.
"Dad, what are we...? Wow." Simba's question paused as he saw a wonderful view of the Pride Lands from the peak and he sat beside his father.
"Look, Simba. Everything the light touches is our kingdom." said Mufasa.
"Wow. You rule all of that?" asked Simba.
"Yes." replied Mufasa, "But a king's time as ruler...rises and falls like the sun. One day, Simba...the sun will set on my time here...and will rise with you as the new king."
"All of this will belong to me?" asked Simba.
"It belongs to no one, but will be yours to protect." replied Mufasa, "A great responsibility."
