At the party:
Guest #1: Helen, the party is great. Oh my, Jesse how much you've grown.Guest #2: Hey Jess, how ya been?
Jesse: Great! Mom, I'll be over there.
Helen: Ok.
Joe: Hey, Helen.
Helen: Glad you guys can make it.
Jesse was walking around and talking to the guests when he saw Roy at the other end. Roy waves at Jesse. Jesse isn't sure if Roy is waving at him. He looks around to see if anyone waved back. He waves back hesitantly.
Helen goes up to make her speech.
Helen: I thank everyone for being here today and supporting our company. I would like to thank my three children: Al, Sarah, and Jesse who has worked really hard in keeping this company together (Everyone claps).
Jesse goes up.
Jesse: Thank you everyone, thank you to my family, and thanks to everyone who is part of this company. We've really come a long way....Enjoy your night (Everyone claps).
Jesse was talking to guests when Roy tapped him on the shoulder.Roy: Hey, Jesse. That was a nice speech.
Jesse: Thanks.
Roy: Helen!
Helen comes down. Then, Roy kisses her on the cheek. Jesse is watching.
Helen: What did you think of my speech?
Roy: It was beautiful.
Helen: Come over here. You have to meet some people.
They walk away.
Jesse is looking at Roy as he walks away. He is thinking to himself, that kiss was more than just a friendly one.
After the party:
Jesse: Comin' down.Jesse grinds down the rails of the long stairs on his skateboard.
Mike, Joe, and Roy are watching.
Helen: What did I say about skateboarding in the house?
Jesse: I wasn't skating....I was grinding down the rails.
Helen: No grinding down the rails either. Now, go wash and get ready for dinner.
Jesse: Sure.
Jesse put his board down to skate away.
Mike: Didn't you just hear your mom?
Jesse: Oh, I heard.
He skates away.
Mike & Joe look at each other.
Helen: Alright. Dinner is ready.
They all sit at the table.
Al and Mike are talking, and so are Joe and Sarah.
Roy: So Jess, how's school?
Jesse: Oh, it's going great. It's actually the best time of the year (trying to hide his smile).
Roy: Why is that?
Jesse: It's summer (Sarcastic face).
Roy: Right.
Jesse: Dinner was great, mom.
Helen: You know I don't cook any of our food.
Jesse: I know, but isn't it nice to be kissed and thanked at every meal?
