Beam sat in class, tapping his foot and twirling his pencil. There were still five more minutes of class and this was the professor that liked to teach until the very last second of class. Beam sighed in impatience. He was hungry, darn it! Didn't this professor want to go eat too??
"Oi! Relax, will you Ai'Beam? The class is almost over." Kit whispered, annoyance laced all throughout his voice.
"He's excited to go eat lunch with his husband, Kit. You know that feeling." Phana said in a matter of fact manner. Kit instantly went red in the face and shut his mouth for a moment. Then he decided to complain about something else.
"Well, when will you start eating with us again? You get a boyfriend and just dump us? You know we always eat lunch together."
"Ai'Kit, I'm not dumping you guys. I see you guys throughout the day, everyday. I only see Forth at lunch or in the evenings."
"Well you've definitely been spending more time with him lately." Kit grumbled.
"Don't be so fussy, Ai'Kit. You have someone special now too." Phana said in his fatherly tone.
"I do not!" Kit whispered loudly.
Beam smirked.
"You will soon enough." Phana finished. Kit sat back in his seat and folded his arms. Then Beam leaned over in his ear and started singing.
"Kit and Ming, sitting in a tree. K-I-S-S-I-N-G..."
Kit sat up straight and pulled his fist back to let Beam have it when the professor said loudly,
"That's all for today class. Please come prepared for our next class by having the answers completed for tonight's assigned chapters. You are dismissed."
Everyone got up in a hurry, including Beam. Kit put his arm back down.
"Okay guys. I'll see yall later." Beam called to his friends.
"And don't be late this time, Beam. Study group starts at 6pm sharp. The TA said she won't wait for anyone this time." Phana called to him.
"I won't!" Beam called over his shoulder as he sprinted out the room. He didn't know why he was so excited to see Forth. It's not like they hadn't eaten lunch together before. But, to be honest, every time he met up with Forth, it felt like he was crushing on him all over again.
The quick, darting flutter of butterflies would streak across his stomach and he would feel his ears get hot. Each time they met, the initial moments felt like the very first time. Beam wondered if it would wear off soon but a part of him didn't want it to though.
He spotted Forth waiting for him at the entrance to the canteen. When he saw Beam, he broke into a smile.
"Hey, how was class?"
Beam shook his head. "Oiii, she's got to be my least favorite professor. She teaches until the very last second. Doesn't she know we're hungry??" Beam ranted.
"To be fair, you get a lot hungrier than everybody else." Forth chuckled. Beam nudged him with his shoulder as they fell into step together.
They walked in the canteen, shoulder to shoulder. Even though they weren't ashamed that they were together, they didn't want to cause a scene by walking in holding hands. PDA always caused a lot of attention no matter who was doing it, and with Forth still being very popular from being the Campus Moon runner up, they were bound to attract a lot of attention by holding hands.
After getting their food, they were lucky to find a small empty table towards the wall and they took a seat. Beam immediately dug into his food but was careful not to be messy. Forth laughed and shook his head.
