Hearts. Broken hearts in specific. We say that our hearts are broken when someone hurts us. We say that they are now split or shred to pieces, and nothing could ever heal it back together. But if that were true, we'd be dead in seconds.
Our hearts are the very essential part that keeps us alive. They cannot afford to break. Our emotions are there, our blood is there, every single thing that defines us lays there. If it broke, everything would come spilling out, our blood would have nowhere to go, and the little thread that keeps our sanity and our heart connected would break.
Yet, we get back up with our sanity, with everything still intact; the only difference is that some may become more wary. Nothing has broken. Our heart and sanity are still intact. Our hearts keep beating even while we're not conscious, they beat every second, every single minute of every hour in every day. 1 2, 1 2, 1 2. They keep beating, and beating, and beating. It is so strong that it rebels against the brain's order that everything in your body has to sleep. It is that strong, yet we say that it is broken?
It can't be broken. If we can keep living, keep coping with the world, it can't be broken. It is hurt, yes, but not broken. As long as it is beating, it is whole. Cracks may appear at times. Sometimes the cracks will be big, sometimes the cracks will be small.
But cracks are easy to fill. Fill it up by surrounding yourself with people who will listen and see your tears so that the water in the cracks is emptied. Surround yourself with people who make you happy. But most of all, surround yourself with people you love, and people who love you back. Leave the ones that don't love you back behind you; that's okay. You'll slowly move on from them.
See, your heart's not truly broken. It is still within limits of repair - but it can only be so if you allow it to be. Your heart will keep beating, if you allow it. Your sanity will remain with you, if you allow it. Your body can do next to nothing without your permission. Don't try to end the pain that way because you see no other way out; give your body a chance to prove itself first. It's kept you alive for so, so long - it's the least you can do for it. Give your body a chance.
