For years, we've celebrated Rememberance Day to remind ourselves of the wars. We take a moment of silence to respect the soldiers long gone, and to appreciate the soldiers still fighting. Rememberance Day isn't just for the great wars of the past; it's for the wars of the present as well. It is a day for everyone, no matter what their differences, to come together to celebrate our victory and to mourn our loss. It is a day to remember the brave soldiers who have committed their life to fighting for what they believe is right.
That's what most people celebrate Rememberance Day for.
From now on, I will not celebrate Rememberance Day for the physical wars. Although I respect the soldiers whom of which gave their life to the army - and they are so, so brave, believe me - I have something to celebrate that holds more importance to me. It is something that most people turn their eye over, and never notice.
From now on, I will celebrate this day for those who are fighting their own, personal wars. I will celebrate those who are battling with themselves. For me, this day will be dedicated to those who have to fight for survival every single day, to those who need to save themselves from their own two hands, to those who are trying to stop themselves from drowning in their minds.
This day will be dedicated to those who are beaten up and set to the ground everyday, this will be dedicated to the ones who are struggling so much and fighting such huge wars out of everyone's line of sight. This day is to the one-man army who is given no supplies, no help whatsoever.
But this will also be a day to remember the dead. To remind ourselves of the wars that they lost, and to mourn them. It is also to remember the ones who are still fighting, still staying above the surface. And I will give them a round of applause for being so strong. I will support them and I will help them in their war. This day is to appreciate the living, and remember the dead. To appreciate what they died for and to stay alive for their sake.
You will not be forgotten so easily, darling. These two minutes on the 11th November at 11 o' clock are for you.
