I'm back at university so if my updates are slow that's why, I'm still here :)
"Some kid has been messing around with drugs." Ashton glanced up from where he was starring aimlessly at the TV, a cigarette in between his lips and a bored expression plastered across his face.
"He goes to the high school nearby." Alex continued when he didn't get an interested reaction from his son, Ashton continuing to blow smoke in the air as if he hadn't heard his father. "I want you to go there. Blend in, find him."
Ashton didn't even have to agree before a handful of paper was being dropped onto his lap, a picture of a red headed boy facing him.
"Jase Adams. Find him before the cops do-" and then he was gone, leaving behind a half asleep Ashton who would prefer to do almost anything than go find some misfit high school kid that thought life as a gangster was more fun than getting into college. Ashton smirked as he stood up and picked the papers up as he did, like he could talk.
Despite being almost twenty and having stubble scattered across his chin, Ashton didn't need to drastically change to look like a high schooler. After all, what kid hasn't worn a pair of ripped jeans and a leather jacket before?
His target, Jase. Captain of the football team and apparently top in Math, his mother is an accountant and his father owns an architecture firm. Ashton didn't even need to meet the guy to know that even if this kid got caught with drugs, mommy and daddy would bail him out with their thousands that are most likely waiting for him for when he gets that acceptance letter into Harvard.
This kid had everything. Sure, Ashton wasn't far off and never struggled in life- money wise- after all, his father controlled most of the city, there wasn't much Ashton couldn't have. Although, one thing Jase had and Ashton did not, was a mother.
He gritted his teeth and pushed that thought away, far away, under a lock and key.
Ashton dropped his cigarette on the ground as he watched a group of kids by the entrance of the school, laughing amongst themselves and clearly not aware that the son of a well respected criminal was starring them down afar. Jase stood in the middle of them, hair swept back and smug smile on his face. Ashton smiled, he was going to enjoy making this one piss himself.
After a few moments, the friendship group began to separate and Ashton watched as Jase was left alone, flicking through his iphone aimlessly with little care in the world. Brushing a few escaped curls back from his forehead, Ashton began moving across the school court yard, his eyes focused on a unaware Jase and hands shoved tightly into his pockets as he attempted to reach the teen before getting stopped by a teacher asking who the fuck he was.
The smaller body crashed into him with some force, however Ashton barley stumbled. Ashton gritted his teeth, fucking high schoolers, before he glanced over towards the person who had interrupted him grabbing the preppy kid by the ear.
"I'm sorry, really sorry" Ashton's glare slowly softened as he was faced with the boy from the club. The cute blonde that would barley talk to him, there he was with his curls brushed back and warm jacket thrown over his shoulders. He was looking back at Ashton as if he thought Ashton was about to scream at him, after all, Ashton had turned around with a look that looked anything but pleased.
So Ashton smiled.
The blonde clearly wasn't expecting a smile in return, so he didn't smile back, still unsure with how this encounter was going to end. "...i have to go to class." but a hand stopped him from any further movement. Knowing that Ashton could easily stop him from leaving, Luke stayed put, his eyes starring anywhere but the older boy.
"Luke, right?" The blonde nodded in return, glancing up at Ashton under his long eyelashes. Ashton chuckled, placing a hand on Luke's shoulder and squeezed softly, the boy relaxing under Ashton's touch. Ashton wasn't used to that. Usually, if Ashton was touching another person it usually wasn't in a comforting manner. "Must be my lucky day..."
Luke entertained Ashton for a few more moments, before he was shuffling backwards and smiling at the other man. "I have to go to class" he repeated his earlier excuse, spotting Michael and Calum walking into school hand in hand in the background. If they caught him with Ashton again, they'd only tease him further and he didn't need that right now. Ashton seemed to click on as he glanced over his shoulder and smirked,
"I'll leave now..." Luke breathed out a sigh of relief, about to step back but Ashton caught his hand. "If you agree to let me take you out."
Ashton wasn't used to being rejected, by anyone for anything. His dad solved everything with money, if Ashton wanted a car, he got two, if Ashton wanted a bigger bedroom- well, his uncle was getting kicked out. If Ashton flirted with you, they always flirted back.
Luke, he did not.
"I don't think that's a good idea." Luke started, his eyes still focused on his friends who were getting awfully close.
Ashton didn't looked defeated however, instead he continued. "C'mon. I don't bite."
Calum caught Luke's eyes before his eyes landed on Ashton and he was smirking, hitting Michael in the shoulder as if to say look at them!
"Fine!" Luke pushed at Ashton's shoulder, "If you go now, I'll meet up with you. Okay?"
Ashton was silent for a few moments before he was grinning from ear to ear, he released Luke's hand and stepped backwards. "See you soon gorgeous." And then he was gone, leaving Luke starring at the scruff of his over worn converses while he felt the presence of his friends get closer.
"Did you find him?" Ashton paused from where he stood, half way up the staircase. Almost. His father was stood by the entrance, a frown on his face as he starred up at his son who was evidently trying to escape to his room without being caught by his father.
"Yes." That part wasn't a lie. Although, Ashton didn't expect to bump into the young blonde that maybe intrigued him more than he let on. "I'm handling it."
He didn't give his father much time to argue as he was already up the stairs, barley giving the man a second thought before slamming the door to his bedroom.
He was distracted today. Luke had been a distraction, one that had prevented him from getting the job done.
He couldn't decide if chasing after Luke was a good or bad thing.
