"Okay, what's up," Logan replied, not yet catching on to the serious tone of Rory's voice.

She noticed he was whispering and immediately felt bad. "I'm sorry I forgot about the time difference. I woke you up. You should go back to sleep."

"It's fine. You wouldn't have called unless it was important."

Rory took a deep breath. "I'm pregnant."

"Oh... that is important... and I'm guessing you wouldn't be calling to tell me that unless..." Logan replied, sounding dazed and taken aback.

"Yeah. You're the father," Rory replied, realizing that although she had told Logan, it didn't make it any less overwhelming, "But listen, I know you're with Odette now and it's complicated and you're in London... but it doesn't have to be a big deal. I'm fine and I have a lot of help from my mom and Lane and everyone, so it's not a problem. I am fine, so you don't even need..." Rory rambled on, before Logan stopped her.

"Woah woah Rory stop. Listen. This is a big deal. You know I couldn't just pretend something like this never happened. You're pregnant. We're having a baby," He said and although she couldn't see him, Rory knew he was smiling.

A small smile spread across Rory's face at Logan's subtle excitement, "Yeah. We are."

"And you know I couldn't just pretend something like this never happened. And we both know there's no way I'm not going to be there for you and the baby. I love you Ace. And I also hope you know that you can count on me."

"I... I love you too Logan, but," Rory trailed off as she heard the sound of a bed creaking, followed by footsteps on Logan's end.

"Ace, I'm sorry, I've got to go, but I'll talk to you soon, okay?" Logan's voice was filled with longing and regret and Rory could tell he did not want to hang up. She also knew, however, that the creaking and footsteps were, without a doubt, due to Logan's fiancée Odette waking up, and if she knew about Rory, there would be trouble; more trouble than there already was, if that was even possible.

"Okay... bye Logan." The phone call cut off and all Rory could think was that he had just hung up without a second thought to go to Odette and although she knew that was wrong, she could not stop feeling that the father of her baby was lost to her. She didn't want to lose him again, and knew if she did it would hurt much more now, especially when it wouldn't just affect her. Rory looked up, remembering that she was in the library, and saw Lane staring back at her, uncertainty in her eyes.

"Odette," was all Rory said and Lane accepted that as an answer to her silent question. "I should go. I'm meeting my mom at Luke's for dinner."

Lane nodded and they both got up together, taking the piles of pregnancy books with them as they went. Lane did not mention Logan or the baby or the phone call out loud, but it loomed over them, weighing down the mood, making Rory feel overwhelmed with the situation yet again. She did not know what to think, or what to do; that phone call had not given her the clarity she had thought and hoped it would.

As she approached Luke's, she spotted Lorelai through the window, a bright smile on her face, a cup of coffee in her hands and one sitting across from her, for Rory. When she walked in, Lorelai saw her and squealed excitedly. "Oh good Rory! You're here," she exclaimed noticing Rory, "You'll never guess what house Sookie and Jackson are buying!"

Rory didn't reply, but sat down and took the mug of coffee in her hands. "The Twickham house!" Lorelai exclaimed, very excited, "It's so beautiful. More beautiful than we all remembered..." she trailed on, suddenly stopping, a lot of concern on her face as she noticed Rory's unenthusiasm and recognizing that something wasn't right inside her daughter.
